Garbage Pizza!

In this challenge, you will use one of every stock part in KSP!

You may only use one of each part and you must use every part.

no mods allowed. Unless you want to use mechjeb to look at stats. (but you may not use it for piloting)

Your score is your maximum altitude.

Order up!

EDIT:

Fine fine, since I must make this rule, you have to try to get the whole rocket up to your record altitude without breaking anything off or staging.

That was the point of this challenge. I think you will find that weighing the many constraints against each other is thought-provoking and difficult.

Achieving balance is hard enough, but assuming you do that, you only get one strut, and you have to use a fuel line somewhere, ideally in a place such that you can burn all your fuel. And if you make it out of the atmosphere in one peice, you have to think about the new center of thrust you will have without the air-breathing engines.

Clarification, you can use staging, if you use it fairly. The dropped stages must include empty tanks.

Remember, success on a technicality is never as impressive as a genuine creative solution.

I started with my standard KSP design philosophy of building a standard respectable rocket... and then tacking on random bits to make it go faster! So my ship looks very different from all of yours, and I ended up using some staging ( is that okay? ) but I'm pretty sure I got all of the pieces (except other command pods).

So here's the ship:

And here's the log:

I'm very proud of the results! 6,102 m!

Wow! that must be a pretty stable rocket.

Where did you end up putting the aerospike? I guess it's on the back in your picture?

We might need an additional rule to prevent certain questionable behaviour:

And yes, if you want to disqualify this entry then go ahead. I'll be attempting a non-destructive contribution as well.

Yeah, I see what you mean. That's clever :) but I'm not going to bother "disqualifying" anyone. It's not like there's anything at stake here.

Is my creation disqualified? (I'm looking up orbital energy so I can have a more concrete number for the high scores if you will accept it).

No, but if you had read the earlier post by endlesswaves, you might see that breaking the challenge in that way has already been done, so in addition to it not being all that difficult, it's also no longer new.

I saw that he'd done that after I'd also done the same thing independently. I then decided to optimize such a scenario lol. I know it wasn't new but by breaking it I meant that I had reached escape velocity, thus breaking your scoring system. Perhaps add a second category for this type of solution separate from the others?

Honestly I'm just not very fond of rules, but I changed the original post, with some clarification. I think you should try it the intended way, it's pretty hard. :)

Here is my honest attempt. I didn't use any staging because I think where to draw the line on that is too subjective. I made sure every part stayed attached. Also, I managed to escape Kerbin with this ship in one piece by exploiting the fuel bug. So for the screenshot below, I used 100% full throttle the entire way to avoid that. I have also included a copy of the ship for anyone that wants it.

Max Altitude: 32916 m

All parts in safe in space. I'm little short to reach orbit so 221 km it is (221081m)

It's flyable with keyboard =3

Also I'm kind of against of staging decoupling, the whole point is to strap everything together and get it to space, and its an actual challenge to put parts in such a way to be able to fly it, like with engines off center and such.
