Recovery problem

Recommended Posts

Dear all,

After a long time without playing to KSP, I installed version 1.7.

Sometimes, it's impossible to recover my vessel (only a probe + heat shield) when landing in water.

My craft is going under the water and I have to wait for the vessel to touch the sea bed to recover it.

Did someone already have this problem?

Thank you.

Craft will sink if they're too dense, but most KSP craft are buoyant. Could you post a pic of your probe that's having problems? Running any mods that affect game physics?

I would suggest to put a decoupler between the probe and the heat shield so you can decouple the shild after reentry. Heatshields are really dense and don't create a lot of buoyancy.

Had the same problem once but after waiting like 10min for the probe to reach the ground, it exploded due too high water pressure :( Removing the heatshield definitly will help :)
