So, I just bought the game and went through the tutorials on how to build and fly my deathtr... perfectly-safe-vehicles-for-outer-space-exploration.

I designed and built my first rocket outside of the tutorial. After getting our tech support boys to iron out the kinks in the design (full recovery: three months, full psyche recovery: pending) I, which I mean the intern in the cockpit, threw the switch and my rocket took off without a hitch.

well... there may have been an oversight in engineering and we now have a kerbal orbiting the sun, but that's the price of progress...

I've heard the use of mods can make this game even better (complete with more "science" opportunities). So what mods would you suggest?

hello and welcome to the forums.

what i suggest about mods is that you get to the mun and minmus with all stock parts before trying mods, that way you get the full enjoyment of all of the normal parts. Well that is what i am doing it seems to work really well to haven't been to minmus yet i only got to mun yesterday, and i have been playing since 0.12, the stock parts still aren't boring for me yet. even if you like mods here are some tips that can increase the enjoyment of the stock part, while a part is selected you are able to rotate in various ways by pressing the q,e,w,a,s,d and shift keys. you can change the control sensitivety for your rockt/plane by hitting the "CAPS LOCK" key, when in orbit when you light the engines to go you will effect the opposite side more, and for the greatest affect try to do it near the periapsis or apoapsis (or however you spell those)

well those are some tips from me you can follow them or not but that is jus thow i like to play

Damned Aerospace - propellers

crewtank - a part than can hold three kerbals, and comes empty

Damned Robotics - Movable servo parts and claws

Zoxygene - a sort-of-broken-all-the-time life support mod

camera pack - little cameras you can place on your rocket and switch to with F8

comsat relays - set up a communications relay network and use it to control craft! _ I really like this one

Mapsat - generate maps of the altitude of the planets

Mechjeb - autopilot, and a dependency of many other mods.
