Any concrete numbers on scarcity of surface features?

Recommended Posts

Any general rule to look out for like "1 for every x Km2 or Mm2 (square megameter)? Bodies like Eve really take it out of me trying to do precise landings w/o wings.

Also, just to be sure, there are new features for every planet and moon, right?

The frequency and number of surface features are different for every planet. If you want to spoil yourself you could look into the cfg file.

Yes, every Celestial Body has at least one type of surface features.

I found a config defining them, but I didn't see a part about their abundance... Just which planet and biome they are located at/on.

I fired up the mission editor and spawned a rover on vall in a low, bluer region, and initially I didn't see anything... But from time to time it seems that the vall geysers erupt and are visible from pretty far away, I zoomed out quite a bit, and i must have seen about 5 different places with some eruptions.

A small plume is always there, but its not so visible, the periodic eruptions really help find them.

I flew around kerbin looking for baobab trees, didn't find them. It seems like ground scatter only spawns around where I first load. After flying out a bit, I see no ground scatter (quicksave, quick load, its back)

Im not sure if I won't see them in this ground scatter-less state, or if it will help make them more obvious

This is the one:

    Frequency = 0.25

The speed at which you are flying could make a difference. Don't go too fast or quads won't update or too high that you won't see them.

The frequency is very different from one to another. For example Mun has plenty of Surface Features same as Duna. Kerbin not so much and there are some though ones.

So then no regular ground scatter showing = no surface features either?
