Gems, cabins and the reds

Don't mind me, I'm just another suggestee among a sea of other suggestees. I thought of three good thinks (in my opinion)  and I suppose I have nothing better to do than list them out.  These suggestions are aimed at both modders and developers, as 2-3 of these ideas may be too absurd to put into the base game. Anywho,  I  will stop with the rambling and  get to the listing.

Idea 1: GEMS (or precious metals) Ever since  ksp added money, I have always wondered  when they would release an update where mining could be your primary income. You could set up lucrative mining operations  on places like eve or eeloo, refine them using vast amounts of energy and then selling them to the populaces on Kerbin. On that subject, you could have more specialized jobs for kerbals like "miners", "cutters/refiners" or "laborers".

Idea 2: CABINS; okay fine this next  suggestion is not going to be about cabins, but has to do with bases/colonization. Personally, I would love it if when you landed on a planet like laythe and tested how certain plants grow in the environment for science. Of  course, this would not work on any other planet besides laythe but I believe it is an interesting concept to look into. Also in the lines of  cabins, is portable housing units. You can store them in containers like science equipment, and deploy them on planets for kerbals to settle in.

Idea 3: THE REDS; This Idea is probably the most unlikely-to-be-implemented idea of the bunch, but its worth to mention. The Idea is around the spacerace. It does not have to be much, just a timer and some extra missions. like "Get to the mun before (insert time frame here) and plant a flag". Unfortunately, the development team would most likely reject the idea due to kerbin being a place with infinite geopolitical possibilities, but if there is any modders looking for ideas i'm looking at you.

There;s a mod "The Gold Standard" that does something like what you are suggesting - I've never tried it, and it doesn't look like it's been updated in a while but it may still work.  Also several mods add additional resources, some of which can be pretty valuable.

Kerbal Planetary Base Systems has greenhouses (if you have a life support mod installed - works with Snacks, USI-LS & TAC-LS).  The greenhouses have an option for "Conduct Plant Growth Study".   Also, the mod Pathfinder is focused around inflatable bases that can be sent all over the Kerbol system & setup where needed.

Not a mod, but there was an RSS 3-way space race being posted on the forums - each player played for a quarter & posted there results.  Looks like they might be starting a new one also.

It's not refined metals, but it still can be a source of income - though I'm not sure if it appear in stock game or if it's part of a mod: Contracts to mine X amount of ore from body Y and return it to Kerbin (or bring it elsewhere).
