[STOCK] 0.16 'Osprey' VTOL

The Osprey [AKA Sealynx is a fat slob of a plane that handles badly and moves slow - but it can be forgiven when you note that it is entirely capable of vertical climb and descent with almost no lateral speed at all. It also carries three Kerbals, and may be ideal for carriers. Top speed at level flight is circa 45 m/s.

I named it Osprey before I had planned to put it up here - it was an experimental free-spinning dual-rotor design that didn't work. So I turned it into a VTOL, and here it is. Still, I'll admit that it's the synonym for VTOL aircraft like 'Transit' is the synonym for van...

I'll rename it Sealynx. .Craft file should be up soon.

It did take a while to find that balance.

I was slightly saddened to realise that the rear two gear wheels don't touch the ground, but that it rests on the forward landing gear and engines. But oh well, it doesn't seem to affect its landing capabilities much.

With the design I posted, landing should be vertical. However, lowering the forward landing gear, attaching struts to the gear's wing, and putting the rear gear on small pylons with struts between them should be enough to keep the engines off the ground.

It works beautifully! I actually managed to strap it to a launcher rig, and managed to land it at the south pole. Well, survived landing, as in "Kerbalnauts still living" anyway...

Too bad we don't have any "Machine Guns" or stuff....
