Heads Up, helmet status is retained between missions

I hade two Kerbals (Sci/Eng) on a short Rover mission on Kerbal.

Since it was on Kerbal I had them remove helmets and neck rings.

After that mission I sent them on another Rover mission, this time to the Mün.

They did take off in their commands seat, shielded by a fairing, but died due to the fact that they hadn't put their helmets back on after the first mission.

Good thing kerbals have us along to keep an eye on them. They may be able to build the rocket parts, but they need us to get them where they are going and back alive.

Maybe they just thought they were over-sized fishbowls. Not sure the fish would like the taste of residue rocket fuel though.

Looks like an oversight to me, if it only arises from entering command seats directly from VAB/SPH (I don't play a version with helmet removal but I assume they automatically put them on when they leave a pressurised pod). May be worth filing in the bugtracker.

Nope! It still saves the status of the helmets when exiting a pressurised pod - I forgot to fix my crew before launching a station module yesterday and when I put Val on EVA To recover her, she wasn’t wearing her helmet... I don’t know if it would auto put them on if she hadn’t been in atmosphere, I’ll test later.
