If this supernova happened sometime between 0 and 70 years from now, well, that's a big range for human lifetimes. My parents are almost 80. They probably need to have it happen in the next 10-15 years at most. (Both my dad's parents died in their mid-90s. My mom's parents didn't last that long.)

If we're talking 25 years I should be around to see it, I hope. But of course you never know. And 35 years would be really pushing it and isn't likely to happen for me.
