yeah. I think it’s fine! Just 1) annoying and 2) uncomfortable to do . As a Pokémon lover, I like doing it bc it opens up the world of Pokémon more for me, it’s just annoying.

its good to go back and play old games. but its more a nostalgia thing than something i use daily. in some cases you can even improve the visuals of some old games. i also like some of the things you can do with virtualization.

The only people who consider emulation a credible threat to revenue are Nintendo, because they're Nintendo. They're also the only people who think that selling people an emulator in a fancy box at an inflated price somehow adds value over just selling the ROMs in the first place, and the only people who argue that playing a game you already own on modern hardware  is somehow copyright infringement.

For everyone else, it's a fun way to play those old games for which compatible hardware is now practically unobtainable or ridiculously overpriced. It's also a whole lot more convenient than trying to make an ancient console work with modern gear, even if you're lucky enough to have one still in working order.

Using an emulator to play games you have no claim to is different of course, that's just piracy. I'll not comment further on it here.

most of the games i emulate are games i've bought at some point and wanted to re-play out of nostalgia, without the trouble of replacing the long dead hardware, scratched discs and non-functional cartridges. if nintendo and others were smart they would have emulators built into their next gen consoles, and sell old roms in an app store. people would pay $2 a game just for the convenience of not having to source roms and emulators from sketchy web sites. also an official sanctioned emulator with an active dev team to fix bugs its probably also worth paying for, so you don't need 3 different emulators to run all your roms.
