KSP 1.9.1 does not start on Mac OS X Catalina

Recommended Posts

Hello

KSP 1.9.0 starts on Catalina and KSP 1.9.1 (no mod at all) just opens a dark screen with progression bar half way. No log is opening. It seems frozen.

I gave the authorization on  Mac Pref>Security >General, but it does only  start a dark screen with no log

It's a fresh download.

What can I do?

Thank's

I've got the same problem. Are your Catalina the newest one? I think maybe it was the system but I don't have evidence.

By the way, do you get KSP on steam?

I got KSP a long time ago on the store and Catalina is 10.15.4.

I upgraded to Catalina just 2 weeks ago

I have other games that works without problem

I have clone with Mac OS X 10.14 and I am going to start on it and see what happens with KSP 1.9.1

OK problem solved

I downloaded from the store the App with .pkg and it works after installation

Previously I downloaded"d the .Zip app and it was not working on Catalina, nor on 10.14

Now it's ok

I had it stuck on "Loading asset bundle definitions". Problem appears to be that I was running it from within my son's standard account which didn't have write privileges to the iMac's general Application folder and KSP got stuck attempting to write stuff into its KSP_osx folder within the Applications folder on startup. It worked correctly running it from an admin account. Solution was to take a copy of the KSP_osx folder and put it within my son's folder within the overall Users where he had full write access - worked immediately.

(To do this, open Finder from the user account you want to get KSP working for, click on Go on the menu at the top of the screen; click on "Go to folder..." in the drop down menu; delete whatever is in text entry bar and type in /Users; click into the user you want to get KSP working for; leave that window open. Press command-N to open new finder window; click "Applications"; hold down the 'option' button and drag the KSP_osx folder from the applications window into the user's window to create a copy of the folder. Now run KSP from the new copy you've just made.

You could just try copying the KSP_osx folder from Applications to that users desktop and run it from there; but if you are using iCloud for files, the desktop is in iCloud and you may have other write access issues - don't know, didn't try this).

Here’s what works for me.   Open the folder where KSP is stored.   Then:

1.   Drag the KSP program file from the folder to your desktop, drop it on your desktop.
2.   Next, drag it from your desktop, back to the folder where it was, the folder KSP is located in.
3.  Profit

No idea why, but that always works for me.  You only have to do it one time, when you first download a new version.  After that, the game loads normally every time.
