Why Do Americans Love Country And Rap But Hate Classical Music?

The classical music is a disco of a much slower epoch, of other (usually worse) instruments, and even of another system of tones(?).
In its modern state it exists since ~1800, so just about 220 years, and a half of this period there are more modern styles.
So, I can't see it's something greater than modern styles.

The rap is just an accompanied recitative declamation, known for centuries.
Its current popularity is probably based on the "maybe he's not that great musician, but he's from our village/street", as well as country music and its folk equivalents in other countries.
Many people like to sing, but much less can do it. The rap is a compromise between desires and abilities.

What personally I don't accept in any form (except rap and growling) is jazz and blues. For me it's a chaotic cacophony of tortured tools.
The Little Boxes in the opening of Weeds is an acoustic torture, too.

Some of jazz I like, others not so much.

Too a large degree the place we live has a lot to do with how the music sounds.

I guarantee you there is a bunch of awesome Japanese jazz bands I have never known.

But for now... tell me you don't like this?

It's jazz... I like it.

This should get them interested:

Ha.

That was a joke right?

It's difficult to pay attention to the music when... the pianist looks like she is seconds away from a wardrobe malfunction.

I suppose if american classical leaned very heavily on you-know-what selling that may make classical more popular.

Just not in a way I would prefer.

It'll generate interest, unless the guy watching is dead.

I liked classical before college, but the first serious classical concert I actually went to was at the U. My girlfriend wore a dress very much like that (not just the look of the dress, she was a similar type). She grew up going to concerts, her parents are big opera fans, she plays the flute, still likes opera, still likes dresses like that... I know all this stuff because I eventually married her, lol. ;)

Come on... if the average Russian speaks about classical music you won't think they are referring to native american music.

You know well and good what I mean.

Opera? I don't like it, yet I don't absolutely hate it.

people always seem to approach opera as music when it might be better as to think of it as a storytelling medium. it has music but listening to an opera cd aint got nothing on seeing it actually performed. watching recorded performance of an opera with subtitles is usually how i watch it, as its a lot easier than trying to follow a libretto while squinting through opera glasses.
