How to roll back to 1.9.1 on Steam?

Recommended Posts

I play with [quite a few] mods installed via CKAN. The game just updated to the new 1.10 update which seemed exciting when I read about it until I noticed that it disabled 90% of my mods. I'm in the middle of several missions using parts from mods. I have not loaded up the game yet, and I fear doing so will corrupt my save or eff up my in-progress missions. Is there any way for me to roll back to the previous version before launching the game via either Steam or CKAN itself?? Or if I tell CKAN to continue using my mods from 1.9 is there a decent chance they will continue to function normally?

I actually figured it out. On the game page on Steam, click the gear icon in the top right, under the banner. Click on the Betas tab, an in the dropdown, 1.9.1 is an option. It will then download some files and you can launch in your previous, mod-safe version. Keeping this up in case anyone else needs info on this.

You really should separate your modded games from Steam ESPECIALLY if you have CKAN- just clone the instance somewhere out of Steam’s reach and leave the Steam one completely stock so it gets the updates while your modded versions aren’t broken by the same updates.

When in Steam hover your mouse over the KSP selection tab and right click it. In the pop-up box that shows, select "Properties". Once done, go to the "Betas" tab. In there, select the beta that you want. (This being 1.9.1)

Sometimes older mods do work on newer versions of the game. Take SpaceY Heavy Lifters pack for example. It was made for 1.3, yet I use it in version 1.9 and it works just fine.
