How I think a space elevator should be made.

Hi guys. I have been thinking this mod for a long time. I wanted to build it but may need some feedback. You could help build it too. Make things possible!

Stuff:

The tube, supposedly having a high crash tolerance. Carbon nano-tubes. It needs to be long, stackable. High breaking torque and force.

The elevator, a donut shaped unmanned command pod. The command pod should have the tube go through it. Needs some fuel to propel itself upwards. Use RCS or retrothrusters to slow down when reaching highest point.

The support, positioned at the base of the elevator. Have it on land or water. If it's on land, make wheels in case it needs to move about. Needs to have very very long legs for extreme stability.

The highest point, positioned in Keosynchronous Orbit. Needs some propulsion and RCS and ASAS for emergencies. Needs high breaking torque and force.

The habitats, attached to the elevator. Holds Kerbals.

Yup, I guess its kinda hard. But anything can happen in KSP.

Impossible to do things like that with Physx. We're talking about making a structure of several million meters size and simulating them with a random game physics engine...

And besides that, have fun stacking these in the VAB. Also note that joints become more wobbly with larger distance to the parts centre.
