A brick will go interplanetary if you throw it hard enough.

GI is opening up shop for the new version of KSP already. :D The old 0.16 thread can be found here.

Planes

SR-71 - A fully functional SR-71 ('cept it don't come with a parachute, you can replace the rear cone with one if ya'll really need it).

The Holy **** 2 MU - A heavy dropship/bomber type vehicle with good survivability and a long range.

Alltex - A shuttle that looks a lot like the NASA shuttle. Working on a launch system, and want others to try to make a launch system. :)

Stockbreaker 4 - Highly-maneuverable jet. Invincible to time-warp.

Poor Man's VTOL - A small plane capable of VTO flight. Possibly could land that way too with a good enough pilot...

Rockets (& vertically launched items)

B-Tex - A slightly futuristic version of the NASA shuttle, gets you into a nice orbit, but sadly it doesn't launch like the real shuttle. :(

HXL-Shuttle 2 - A shuttle made of 3-meter parts, currently goes to LKO, but with modifications, this thing can be taken anywhere.

Alltex 3 - A space shuttle, currently only capable of short suborbital hops, but it looks pretty close to the real thing.

Other

A giant stunt ring for flying planes/rockets/whatever through.

Stockbreaker 1

Vpo8D.png

Need to do some stunts or move around a lot? GET THE STOCKBREAKER! Includes one design with a stupid name! :D

Takeoff instructions:

- Turn on Precision Controls (capslock) for an easier time with flying.

- Pull up once going above 40 m/s.

- Be a little careful with the tail, wouldn't want to smash it off during takeoff would you?

- Do stunts and DFTBA.

Ey4VN.png

Landing instructions:

- Turn off the engines and Precision Controls.

- Drop it like a rock to 1.5 km.

- Drop at anywhere between 30-50 degrees until 500 m.

- Glide with an touchdown angle of less than 10 degrees and level of course.

- BRAKES! D:

Stockbreaker 3

h8BiS.png

Well, after a few flights, I realized the tailpiece could snap off during warp, so I added struts to make sure the taipiece cannot come off in extremely stressful situations.

- Note: Engines seem to move around a bit at 4x physical warp, and can break themselves off. Recommend maximum warp 3x.

pG2pC.png

Then I decided while I was at it, I should add something else, I decided to add some more fuel and proper intakes for the engines.

Takeoff instructions:

- Precision controls. (Likes to turn to the left a bit, so correct for that.)

- Don't have to worry about a tailstrike. Just pull up!

Landing instructions:

- Precision controls recommended to be OFF.

- Flap those fins and take it down nice and gentle. :)

Poor Man's VTOL

VRLGp.png

The term VTOL is a bit of a misnomer, as it is not designed to land vertically, only take off vertically..mostly.

Takeoff instructions:

- 1/3 throttle and activate engine (first stage).

- Wait for the engine to get hot, then fire the second stage.

- Hold up as you do so, and probably you will have to roll to the left or right to correct for it naturally trying to pitch

down.

- As soon as the rockets burn out, activate precision controls and enjoy your flight.

Alltex

Kf22O.png

A shuttle capable of takeoff from the runway (though it is very difficult). Designed for use with a vertical launch with a NASA-style vehicle.

UMwm2.png

Takeoff instructions:

I don't know, I suggest low throttle with no control input (precision controls on btw) until it starts to level itself, then throttle up and pull up.

Alltex 3

vD7zh.png

The closest design I can make to getting into orbit while staying as faithful to the design of the real space shuttle as I can...

GxNJi.png

Launch instructions:

- 2/3 throttle, precision controls, SAS on. Don't touch any controls.

- Fire 1st stage.

- When SRBs run out of fuel, fire 2nd stage.

- When shuttle tips to 45 degrees, fire 3rd stage.

-- Optional: Turn throttle down to 1/3 to make it last longer. I am not sure if this improves the range or not.

- When shuttle tips to horizontal, fire 4th stage.

- Control as desired from there.

B-Tex

hOCHZ.png

A space shuttle. It doesn't look like the NASA shuttle, but it gets into orbit easily. During my first test flight, it got

to an orbit of 72 km - 1,900 km, which means it can get to low orbits and do some maneuvers.

Launch instructions:

- 1/3 throttle and launch with SAS.

- Stage when the SRBs run out.

- When you get to 10 km up, turn to 45 degrees and throttle up to 2/3.

- When your Apoapsis is at 75 km, cut throttle and coast.

- Fly from there at your own discretion.

The launch vehicle, for those interested, is 4 SRBs attached to two stacks of two large 3-meter tanks on top of the large engines. These probably can get you all the way into orbit on their own with a good enough pilot.

Stockbreaker 4

tMMsD.png

Basically, an invincible-to-time-warp highly maneuverable fighter jet (with no armaments, sorry) with a decent amount of fuel.

I've added more struts since the old versions (now you can get #2 or number #4, #1 sucked (because it didn't have fuel lines) and #3 I don't even know).

Takeoff instructions:

- Will lift off at around 70 m/s (put the landing gear up to takeoff quicker, but be careful not to strike your engines).

Landing instructions:

- Cut engines and glide like the wind. Will survive heavy landings quite well. ^^

HXL-SHuttle 2

Z3Sib.png

Launch instructions:

- Full throttle (well, actually, those of you that know what you're doing with drag know to throttle down a little).

- Once the bottom stages are gone (the one with the SAS and below), pitch to 45 degrees until AP is at 72 km.

- Circularize.

Landing instructions:

- Glide it in from 1 km up.

- Recommend start pulling up at 2 km though.

Even comes with abort stage and parachutes for those of you uncomfortable with your ability to land planes!

Here is a tip on the stockbreaker: take a picture of the whole craft, what do we need to see the engine for..?

Well, I was about to make a nasty reply about how you should've looked at the other pictures, but actually, I forgot to link to them, thanks for reminding me, links to the old versions (with more pictures) now available. Btw, the picture of the engine is to show off the latest improvements, since the 4th one is basically adding all those struts to make it invincible to time-warp.

Holy **** 2 MU

oZTdL.png

Carries 9 tanks of fuel in roughly the same same you used to carry 3 (well, not really, but it looks almost like it in a way and is pretty ****ing awesome anyhow).

This version has two extra struts to hold the ends of the wings on better (for rough parachute touchdowns), and two struts doing the same for the cockpit. Another awesome feature is that one of the parachutes is attached to the cockpit directly, so if you have a CSE (cockpit-separation-event), you can still survive! Huzzah!

Also comes with a bunch of winglets for extra maneuverability, but who cares about that?

SR-71

YUUD0.png

I think this is the closest I've seen to a real SR-71 in KSP with stock parts (let me know if you find a better one!).

Takeoff instructions:

- Doesn't really matter, but if you want a short takeoff hold the brakes while activating engines at full power and wait for it to start inching forward and let go and pull up until you get up.

Landing instructions:

- Fairly standard, just keep it about level and it comes down on its own.
