Low fps on an high-end pc

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a good high-end pc that can run mostly every recent games in ultra setting with 60fps , but KSP run at only 20fps.... I have an a Amd ryzen 7, 32gb of ram and an RTX 2060.

I don't know how can I have greater fps without affecting the graphics of the game..

Turn some settings down- terrain scatters, reflection quality and to a lesser extent terrain texture quality can tax even the most powerful systems: KSP is most affected by single-core processing speed as the physics calculations all happen on one core, so terrain scatters (which all have collision meshes) will add many more objects to compute and slow it down; reflection quality is also calculated from what you have in flight and even a relatively simple plane can require a lot of computational effort to produce an accurate reflection 60 times a second, slowing things down further; terrain shader quality is less likely to be an issue but in some cases can slow the game a bit too.
Turn down settings like aero FX quality, light count and disable surface, highlight and underwater effects too if that helps. If you have visual mods installed, try turning their settings down a bit- scatterer and EVE can both reduce your frame rate if they’re turned up really high especially for water reflections.

Higher part count vessels is the biggest cause of low FPS and slow game performance due to the physics being calculated on a single CPU core, which as I understand it is fundamentally necessary to make the physics engine work properly.
