Planes falling onto the runway

When building in the spaceplane hangar, I find that my craft always spawn several feet above the runway and fall straight down on their landing gear. sometimes the plane survives this impact, but more often some part falls off. especially the heavier ships get damaged.

the game spawns the plane relative to where it is in the hangar. If the plane is high up in the hangar, it would spawn high up in the air. Just place the plane down near the bottom of the hangar and it should solve the problem

Not true. It spawns so the lowest part is touching the ground, that is, if it's not using the supports.
