Weird shadows

So, I have this issue where the shadows look REALLY weird past a certain distance.

Farther away

 

Closer.

Is this kind of thing normal? Here are my GameData folder for my mods' list:

Perfectly normal, the game reduces shadow resolution the further away something is from your viewpoint

iirc with Scatterer you can adjust the shadow cascade distance so you can see the higher-res shadows from further away, but I'm not sure which line in scatterer config does that

Yeah. It was what I did. I disabled SMAA in the scattering tab and just activated long distance shadows and left the standard values. Thank you for your help.

SMAA doesn't affect shadows, it's the long-distance shadows (that enables Scatterer shadow settings overriding stock ones) so leave scatterer SMAA on (without it, you get pixelated edges when using Scatterer unless you have a TUFX or KS3P config with FXAA/SMAA/TAA on)
