Is there a way to create a new ckan mod pack without getting rid of your current one?

I want to create a new ckan mod pack, but I don’t want to get rid of the one that I currently have. How do I do that?

1. File → Manage game instances
2. New game instance → Clone or fake new instance
3. Make sure "Clone existing KSP instance" is selected
4. Choose your current game instance in the "Instance to clone" dropdown
5. Enter a new name and path at the bottom
6. Click Create
7. Now you have two game instances, you can keep your old mods installed in one of them and install different mods in the other one

If you got KSP through Steam and want to try a different version, and assuming you didn't put mods into the Steam copy of KSP (which is a bad idea due to Steam corrupting things when mods are installed), try this:

1. In Steam library, right click KSP then click Properties;
2. Click Betas, then use the drop down list to select your game version e.g. 1.10.1;
3. Steam will download and install that version of the game, once it completes click Local files and verify the game files just to make sure it's installed right;
4. Copy KSP out of Steam/steamapps/common, paste it away from Steam's folders and give it a new name e.g. 1.10.1, renaming it makes it much easier to keep track if you have several different copies of KSP with different mods in each;
5. Add this new copy to CKAN and install mods as normal.
