On-screen protractor

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of any good (hopefully free or very cheap) program that allows you to (while leaving background programs showing) click on 3 points in order to measure the angle, or some other program that would allow you to more precisely measure the angle between the planetary bodies' orbits?

Right now it seems most people I know have to hold up a physical protractor to their screen, which is pretty sad. So please post your favorite on-screen protractor programs here if you find any.

Here is a really good calculator for angles, you can do the rest by eye fairly well :)

Thanks, but I really wasn't looking for a way to calculate angles. That really isn't too hard. That is a nice thing though, so thank you.

I really am looking for a way such that I don't have to do it by eye and can be much more precise. When you're on a tight fuel budget or just want things to be more precise that's nice. And some of us are better at judging angles by eye than others haha. I'm pretty bad at it, as I'm sure some other people are too.

But I really don't want an autopilot or calculator to do the work for me necessarily. I like being able to do the work on my own, but measuring the angle is another thing. The best I can do is put a protractor up to the screen, but that's really annoying and of limited use.

All I want is something to tell me what angle 2 interplanetary bodies are from each other at any given moment. I suppose that mod does that, so I may use that, but I don't really want the autopilot or the other information that is calculated per se. All I want is the measurement. I can do calculations from there.

That's pretty much all it does.
