Ways to launch a space station

So a the title suggests... What are your ways for launching your space stations... I personally wanted to do numerous trips like the iss with the orbital construction mod ...but I don't know how it works so that didn't work... What stations have you got and how?

You can use Erkle's docking mod, and learn how to rendez-vous and dock.

Yeh but My plan was to ferry parts to the orbital dock then 'create' it as if it was being built... Then resupply it.... Are there any mods that will automate a rendezvous within a certain distance?

The tricky part of doing a rendez-vous is the "getting within a certain distance". Short range rendez-vous and docking is comparatively easy (just RCS your way there).

It looks like what you want is the Orbital Construction. Why don't you try to learn how to use it ?

using one of the 2 docking mod for your space station would be the best, I mean, it is cool to send a huge space station, but nothing like buliding a modular one

Yeh gonna ferry parts to the station then when it's complete if fit it together... So essentially I built it in spaxce

Just send it up as one part and make sure that most of the struts you use end up decoupled to avoid the lag.

Wasn't that mod broken by 0.17? Last time I checked it wasn't working..

MechJeb has automated rendezvous functionality within it's "Orbital Operations" pane... Have yet to test if it works for ships but it does work for natural satellites (As long as you are orbiting their parent planet!)

EDIT: it only works for natural satellites and it's called the transfer module (Quite useful for getting to the mun and minmus from kerbin! Once the deep space disassembly bug is patched it will be equally useful in solar orbit to transfer to another planet)

When I tried it, the mod 'worked', but it doubled my velocity all of a sudden when I came back to my space station after another mission. This ended very badly.
