How am I doing? (I love this game)

I just-just got my first sucesfull flight! However, I don't know how to get to moon, any advice? It seems that my ship keeps running out of power barely after getting orbit. I can post my .craft file if needed!

Here's my orbit and my spaceship :-).

Wow, that's one big rocket.

Using this, you should probably be able to go to the Mun, but you may want to change your staging a bit. And of course, to go to the Mun, you should try to align your orbital plane, and to do this, you need to head East (90°) when orbiting.

You can also follow

, or look for advice on the forum.

Welcome to the forum, and happy launching! :)

You can actually get there and back with a much smaller rocket, try a stage with 3-5x large rocket engines with 3 tanks on top, followed by the same in small tanks, then a lander with 2-3 fuel tanks.

If that rocket is stable, then you already know how to get further from there. :)

Simple tip - you have too much fuel per engine. The number of engines you have are too few for that fuel - or - you have too much fuel for those engines. I think you have three engines. Try taking 'one' tank off each (trial and error). If you know about thrust/weight ratio's then this is what I'm talking about.

When you get to about ten thousand meters, turn 90 degrees, and watch your apoapsis. When it gets to about 100000, coast to it. When you arrive, fire your engines until the you have a realitivly circular orbit. now, wait until the Mun rises over the horizon, and fire your engines. Watch your map until you enter the Mun's gravity. Enter the gravity and coast to the periapsis. Then, perform a retroburn and create an orbit. Keep burning until you are on a course to collide. Good luck!

Thank you guys! It feels great to get a lot of advice :).

My rocket is not stable per say. On solid boosters it leans just a tiny bit, and bottom engines overheat [and falloff with no damage].

I am reorganizing the stages right now. Here is how it works:

1) ALL solid boosters FIRE. This makes the rocket fly kinda slow, but eh.

2) The outer three liquid boosters fire at FULL POWER. Boosters fall off.

3) Outer three liquid fire boosters fall off, the middle one fires. At half tank we are in orbit

4) We have a very small tank in the small rocket :(. Not enough to get to moon, but I am looking into tutorials.

I am really liking this game! I wish it got into beta faster :-).

Any advice on making the rocket more responsive? I put thruster blocks, but they never fires!

Press R to turn on RCS shadowpho, and don't forget RCS fuel tanks :)

Wings are better further down, like the fletchings of an arrow, but they will only work in the atmosphere.

Oh wow, I knew I should've done the tutorial! Thank you :-).

Here are screenshots of "early explosion boosters"

In addition to the recommendation to take a fuel tank off, note that adding something little, like a wing or RCS thruster to the exploding SRB's should take away enough heat for the solid boosters to not explode.
