KSP Anisotropic Filtering with AMD GPUs

Does anyone know if it is possible to access anisotropic filtering in Unity and mod it into the game? Surely Unity supports this decades-old technology.

I recently got an AMD graphics card, and, much to my dismay, discovered that AMD drivers cannot force anisotropic filtering in games, unless the game uses DirectX9 or older. Now I get to admire all the muddy textures a few meters beyond my spacecraft.

Why Nvidia does this with no problems, but AMD hasn't figured it out is beyond me.
