Built in the VAB too? Thats some commitment. I'd recommend building shuttles in the SPH horizontally, then flip the cockpit/pod before save or launch. Its much much quicker to do that way.

Awesome ! I tried that for some time in 0.16 but never reached orbit. I've used the TiberDyne shuttle system mod which works great but I find the parts unbalanced compared to stock parts

Me too, but when it's leave atmosphere, I lost command.

What i did was built it in the shuttle in the plane hanger then transferred the file over to the other hanger and built the rocket and launch it from there

that looks nice but how is it going to manuver on spacE? correct me if im wrong but it only has atmospheric engiens

Genius !! combines the best of 2 construction methods, gonna use this trick for sure
