dylsh
I currently own an Alienware 34inch 21:9 monitor. But I am looking to upgrade to Samsung’s Odyssey Neo G9 49inch 32:9 monitor. I absolutely loved the extra real estate for KSP1 when I went Ultrawide. And I want to enhance that with a Super Ultrawide monitor. As KSP1 is the game I played BY FAR the most, as I’m sure so will KSP2…. I don’t want to spend all this money on a monitor if the new game doesn’t support the resolution. What do you think? Missingno200
Monitors like that make me appreciate the fixed 3.2:1 and 4:3 resolutions of a CGA card. Anyways, likelihood is that we will probably get resolution support, but there's a chance it won't be particularly good. There's only so much our eyes can perceive in the corners, so at a certain point the UI elements will have to be locked in place, which could get messy code wise, or they just won't code for that at all. Mods will hopefully fill that support gap if it doesn't support it on launch. Edited January 25, 2023 by Missingno200 Fixed 640x200 aspect ratio. whatsEJstandfor
I'm on the exact same monitor as you and luckily, so far, I haven't had any games be unplayable even when they haven't had explicit support. In Oxygen Not Included, the background animations in the menu are real messed up, but the actual game runs totally fine. In the Spider-Man remaster on Steam, there was a bug where some 2D visual elements overlapped each other but those two examples are about the only ones I can think of at the moment. My understanding was that most engines just kinda work with whatever goofy resolutions you give it (albeit with occasional bugs), but I don't know if that's wrong. So I had been assuming that, even if KSP 2 doesn't explicitly support 32:9, I'll just force it into that resolution and it'd mostly be OK.
