Do you think Space Exploration is a good?

  1. 1. Do you think Space Exploration is a good?

I miss the old Spacelaunch Megathread, I always seem to miss a few upcoming launches and that thread kept us informed. Hope this stays updated :)

Gonna be cool to see another Falcon9 launch, here's hoping it goes smooth.

I'm going to watch the Falcon9 launch, though I'm not sure if I'm going to be in Melbourne or Orlando that night. Either way...it'll be great. Advantages of living on the Space Coast.

EDIT: I'm not sure if this is clear or not, but I'm referring to Melbourne, Florida, a smallish town around 30 miles south of the Space Center

I will keep it updated, I'm a space nerd/geek/insert other word here.

I'm also hoping it goes smooth and I'm waiting to see how Commercial Resupply Services do in their first mission, see if NASA like them.

Lucky you, I live in the UK so I have to watch livestreams all the time, I like them anyway. I will bump the Falcon 9 mission up the list when I get home tommorow and provide good information like the "Next Mission" on there OP now.

Also, I know it's clear, how can you see Cape Canaveral from Australia? :sticktongue:

It might be interesting to know what people who think space exploration is good think that space exploration agencies should be doing, and at what level they should be funded. No idea how to collect data on that in an efficient and meaningful way, though, that actually gives rise to a roadmap.

My idea might not be efficient and it won't include everyone but you could ask the question on various different forums/IRC/Other types of messages etc.

Then, collect everything and find out what they like.

If you actually want lots of people in one country officially and then present your findings, I have no idea.

Remember, the GPS IIF-3 Launch is later today onboard a Delta IV rocket, with the launch window opening at 12:10 GMT and closing at 12:29. Live coverage can be found here.

I won't be here when this thing launches so I will have to find out news from here if someone could tell me and I will update the thread when I get back.

Also, later this week is the ISS Re-Supply mission onboard a Falcon 9 rocket, taking place on Sunday. More news to come after today's launch.

Hope it goes well.

It went off, I saw it on my way in to work this morning. I got that picture around 8:11 EDT (12:11 GMT).

CRS SpX-1 will be fun to follow, but what I'm looking forward to the most is the first Orion test flight in early 2014. That, and the next big robotic mission to the outer solar system (Jupiter icy moons explorer) are things I look forward to.

I'm looking forward to CRS SpX-1 as well, hope it goes well this weekend/early Monday morning. Unfortunately, the Orion test flight is a long way off currently and we have a few more NASA missions to launch before that.

I look forward to Dawn reaching Ceres in 2015,

Juno arriving at Jupiter in 2016,

and New Horizons arriving at Pluto the same year.

I'm also looking forward to these, especially New Horizons as we haven't seen Pluto close up before.

Also, I've updated the thread to show the next launch, CRS SpX-1 taking place this weekend.

Good luck with the ISS mission.

Very interesting, but the new thread is in "The Science Labs" part of the forums, thanks.

It's interesting to see how many sattelites we have doing their thing at the moment for lots of different things, and sattelites on their way to different places around the Solar System.

I will edit this into the thread in "The Science Labs" , make sure you post in that one from now on and good find.

Mods, could you delete/lock/whatever's appropiate?

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
