Saving Stages

I remember seeing a post on these forums somewhere that was made by a person who had created a game called Saving Stages, which was a game about modifying historical rocket stages, in order to make them fully re-usable. I searched it up on steam, because it has a steam page, but it apparently was taken off of the store. I know some people were able to play it, due to there being reviews and screenshots that players have posted. I really wanted to try and play it but why did it get removed?  And where can I find it now? If it was development difficulties or lack of motivation, I am sorry. The steam page also said that they were targeting a 2021 release, but the pandemic probably pushed that back.

Now this is pretty interesting but never heard about the game, you have that insane helicopter designed to capture Saturn 5 first stages.
I say that the most effective disposable launcher is an  2.5 stage setup with SRB or mostly less optimal with liquid fueled boosters,  core stage and an second stage, this works well both RL and in KSP.
In KSP the second stage tend to be the payload you put into orbit. This makes reuse hard outside the liquid fulled booster who works for Falcon heavy, it was also plan for flyby boosters for shuttle and Buran both who are 1.5 stage in this setting.
I sat SpaceX was very lucky with their design as it worked so well for first stage landing.
On the other hand DC-X scaled up could be an very nice first stage but the lure of SSTO  is an fail unless you get SSTO tech you can use,
You also have lots of plane ideas but large hyper sonic planes tend to be very expensive to develop.  Magnitudes more than Starship then you have the megastucture stuff who will be relevant once we launch many megaton into orbit yearly.

  • 4 weeks later...

IIRC, it was basically a management sim where you unlocked new parts, then hit a button for an RNG to tell you if you landed or blew up. Its been a while, but I remember being underwhelmed.
