[Suggestion] please fix panther afterburner nozzle

Recommended Posts

The panther jet engine nozzle gets as small as possible when in after burning mode. This is backwards to real life. An afterburner nozzle will expand due to the exhaust gases being supersonic and it should be at its smallest during highest thrust without afterburner.

i want to say that this was even done correctly in KSP1.

btw I love the shock diamonds and the new look of the engine, it just bugs me that the nozzle is wrong especially since KSP has so much realism to it

Explain this then

What altitude and have you actually switched to afterburner? Mine does not open up.

also, it’s still incorrect. An afterburner will never compress at the nozzle even at sea level. Technically it should expand as you go higher up, but it should always be smallest area when in cruise mode and biggest area when in afterburner

Yes I’m sure. I click the toggle (or the action group), the parts manager says afterburner, the nozzle constricts, shock diamonds happen as the nozzle spreads back out, and the thrust number goes up.

Well I must have a glitch then? Mine stays closed all the way. Is it related to amount of air intake or something?

I can share a video later, but when I switch they get tiny and then shock diamonds and thrust increase and never expand
