Could be cool to implement as a dwarf planet type object in the Kuiper belt equivalent, assuming they can work out the terrain issues.  I think anything with giant crystals in the inner solar system would not maintain those  structures for very long.  The less perturbed objects of the outer solar system would probably be a better home, and add more interesting destinations in the outer reaches that's still not quite interstellar
