Landing gear goes wonky after re-deploying in flight

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else had this issue with planes' gears going crazy after being retracted and then re-deployed? It seems to happen on many of my builds and I figured I would (finally) make a post about it.

Hi there. I'm wondering if your landing gear is close to a join( two parts connect) and when you take off and fly the stress on the vehicle is causing things to shift. It's only a guess but sometimes when when attaching landing gear, as you go up and down the vehicle they can flip round in the wrong direction. I tend to keep them away from a joint and strut the part well that has landing gear.

When I've built planes and they tend to suddenly veer off on takeoff, strutting the part that has the front landing gear usually fixes this. You may not see the movement but it's there.

This is really only a guess though as I've not had this problem:rolleyes:

I take it they were attached in symmetry?

Hello! The gears are in symmetry mode connected to the fuel tank near the rear. The gears are clipped a bit into the fuel tanks which I'm sure can cause some weird behavior but it's as if the gears decided to go into a mirror mode or steer 180 degrees somehow after being deployed again (the brake lights seem to still be on back of each gear too as they should)

Is a odd one. My only thought is, one of the parts after the fuel tank been put on in a 180 fashion or it's close to a reversed clip point. Would be interesting if others have had this. I've played a lot of hours on this game and never seen it.

If you would like, upload a link to that craft(I use Google drive as a example) just copy craft while in the VAB to a text document.

I'm curious to have a look. Might be useful for others or the Devs too have a look at too possibly.

I've sussed it:)

I recreated your craft and sure enough had the same issue. Sometimes it's one that reverts and also had both reverse. Worked out that the top of the gear at the back was clipping on the rear engines that had been pulled in. Run this a few times so confident that's what it is. Also found SAS made this worse as the engines are wiggling seemed to upset it more. Either pull the engines out a bit or slightly move landing gear forward.;p
