Now this is getting really interesting! I suppose in the next chapter we will find out what Rozer told Sid about the mission?

Also, I knew why I had a bad feeling about this. RIP Bill and Genanand. Hopefully their deaths won't be in vain. (I mean, if the flag has a RTG-Powered transmitter in it [nice idea, btw.] then someone will probably investigate the crash site, right?

(Are you just picking off the Orange Suits one by one?)

If Jeb dies, the universe (kerbalverse?) ends. Although, they never really die ingame because they keep coming back even if you crash them into the sun (not that I tried that^^). But i'm sure Czo will include that somehow (right?)...

Wigilia sounds fun.

And it is! :)

Merry Christmas! Thanks for all the chapters! Once I get some money on my card I'll donate.
Wow! Another cliffhanger, you really do know how to keep your readers hooked! Great chapter and Merry Christmas!
Darn, dat speech. Truly worthy of Carl Sagan.

Thank you very much and Merry Christmas - or rather Happy New Year :P

MOAR chapters!

I find it amazing how someone can master the hardest language in the universe (engilish)

Thank you for making this czo!

Also, I think the Duna base team have re-reversed engineered the hab modules into a kerbin return ship and gone home :)

No problem, pleasure is all mine. And what happened on Duna will eventually be revealed :)

The hardest language in the universe is Russian or Chinese. English is one of the easiest languages in the world.

Note: I have a higher mark in English than in russian(my native language)

It depends on which language you start from. Most European languages at least have a similar base to grammar. Try going to English from Japanese! I'm sure that would be a kicker!
I actually have a sister who will be heading to Japan in the near future. And she is studying Japanese right now
It's all about whether your language has a lot of inflection (e.g.Latin, Japanese, Russian), no inflection (e.g. Chinese), or is at some middle ground like English or Spanish; basically whether word order and choice determines meaning (less inflecting) or changes to the words themselves (inflecting). Going to a different writing system as well as different level of inflection really doesn't help either.

But all the Russians I know living here in Britain do seem to forget their Russian whilst other expats remember their language more or less.

Yeah. I tried to learn Japanese once a long time ago. I got as far as memorizing Katakana and Hirigana (and of course the american letters they use for things like 'coca cola') and learning the very basics of grammar. Never got any farther, and definitely never learned any of the Kanji! How many characters is that again? Hundreds? I know the Katakana and Hirigana are simplifications of those, with 'layers' taken off for different sound combinations, but Japanese actually memorize all those things don't they? I guess if schooling of a different culture is very different it'll always seem weird. Kids learn some crazy things sometimes.

I'm somewhat familiar with Spanish, French, German and Arabic (mostly Spanish, I know not so much about the rest of them) besides English and believe me, they are nothing compared to Polish :P Seriously - do you know that "cricket" in Polish is "świerszcz"? Try to pronounce it not being a Slav! There is a very strong and common belief in Poland that in fact Polish and Chinese are the two most difficult languages in the world. And here's a good example of the complexity of Polish:

Here's one (somewhat trivial, but illustrative) example of the relative complexity of languages: the number 2.

English, Spanish, Dutch: 1 form (two, dos, twee)

Portuguese: 2 forms (dois/duas) - depending on gender (2 - masculine & feminine)

Croatian: 7 forms (dva, dvije, dvoje, dvojica, dvojice, dvojici, dvojicu) - depending on gender (3 - masculine, feminine, and neuter) and case in one specific form. There were other variants historically but they're not used anymore.

Polish: 17 forms. Depends on gender (3), case for all forms. Pretty much all these forms occur in regular speech (6-11 less often than the others)

17 grammatical forms for the number 2

1. dwa

2. dwie

3. dwoje

4. dwóch (or dwu)

5. dwaj

6. dwiema

7. dwom (or dwóm)

8. dwoma

9. dwojga

10. dwojgu

11. dwojgiem

12. dwójka

13. dwójki

14. dwójkę

15. dwójką

16. dwójce

17. dwójko

If that doesn't convince you, take a look at this:

On the other hand, as a foreigner even if you say "cześć" (hi) in Poland you can count on a warm welcome :)

I will say this: This guy's grasp of English is better than most American's.

For some reason, that apostrophe looks out of place... oh, see what I mean?! :P

Speaking as a person fluent in three languages (yes, english is among those three for all you clever ones), I can safely say that if Czo hadn't said that he was Polish, I would think he is a native english speaker.

Yes, Czo, you are that good. Not perfect (because even the best of writers usually have a couple of mistakes with the more tricky grammar), but great nontheless. You really should try writing an independent (that is, not depending on KSP or any other game) story in english. You'd do great.

Am I the only one here who thinks german is much more difficult than english? And yes, I am a native german speaker, does that have to mean anything? :-D

No, really, I think english is actually quite simple, my english is better than my german sometimes...

Anyway, Czo, your english is indeed quite perfect for a non-native speaker.

Wow, thank you very much guys :) I'm doing my best although I know there always are plenty of mistakes. But practice makes perfect - or at least I hope it does. I'm certainly more confident now in writing in English than I was one year ago when I was thinking about writing the story of "Kadmos". So thanks for the reading and support, without it I surely wouldn't have reached chapter 50 :)

Somehow, this worries me :D
Ooooh boy, can't wait
Let me guess - it will have something to do with Duna.
They find the Kraken on Bop. It's obvious!

Both, actually :P

Wait, isn't there a flying saucer on one of Jool's moons? It's been a while since I found that. Is it still in 0.23? Or 0.22 I guess since that's what Czokletmuss is using if I remember right.

There is?! Hmm...

Tip, czo - "frak" is spelled with one K, but "frakking" has 2. Just a quirk of English :)

Really? That's... weird but okay, I guess I have to accept this :P

NOOOO Bill!

(Also, called it!)

The Force is strong with you :)

Nooooooo, not bill!!! Why!?!?
Also, Greenbeck is dead too. Yeah. Uh, rest in peace? :P
That was... unfortunate...

RIP Genanand

RIP Harsen

RIP Bill

RIP Bob

RIP Orsen

Also, I thinks it's time for Jeb to push that big button that says "Do Not Push."

You cruel and heartless kerbalkiller!

But good chapter...

Poor Bill. If you kill Jeb the universe will end.

EDIT...does Proteus have a self destruct?

You maniac! Now he's going to use one, even if he didn't think of it before! Gosh darn you!

:maniacal laughter:

Ah, the infamous Self-Destruct System, completely pointless and totally awesome. Well, I'm trying to stick to the hard s-f here so I don't see a point to waste precious delta-V (explosives -> weight) on something so ridiculous. But hey, who know what KSC did, right? :)

No! Everyone must go straight home! It's time for an end to this mission!
I believe this quote calls for a 'DUN DUN DUUUUUNNNN!'

IE, be careful what you wish for ;)

Hey, I said they all had to come home first. That's gotta count for something on the Genie Jerk Avoidance scaletm.

Yeah, quick MISSION TERMINATION may not be what you want to wish for :P

And yup, Be Careful What You Wish For (and Gone Horribly Right could apply here too I guess).

I think the situation calls for a Joker Clap award.

http://gifrific.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/joker-clap-hq.gif

A truly amazing chapter, Czo. :D

Thank you, I appreciate it! :)

No bill!!!! D:
Oh. OOOHH.
Billllllllll . . .

(Are you just picking off the Orange Suits one by one?)

Nope. I simply obey the Rule of Drama and Rule of Logic (if there is one) - what can happen in reality (tragic accident), well, can happen and sometime does happen.

It occurred to me last night in a dream that the object that hit them is the little squid thingy from the 0.22 trailer

The accident can be interpreted in both ways (malfunction or Kraken encounter), which was obviously intended by me. But that's actually cool idea :)

Find out in the next chapter! :dun dun dun: And thanks - btw I think I mentioned this transmitter for the first time when they were still on Moho, so it's not just an Ass Pull :P

No! biiil! When they first landed on bop, I thought it was boring how you decided to not mention the Kraken. This chapter I knew what was coming once I saw that polar orbit ;)

Good chapter anyways!

Haha, yeah polar Bop orbit kinda spoiled the surprise I'm afraid :)

If Jeb dies, the universe (kerbalverse?) ends. Although, they never really die ingame because they keep coming back even if you crash them into the sun (not that I tried that^^). But i'm sure Czo will include that somehow (right?)...

I'm trying to write as hard s-f (on the Mohs Scale) as I can while preserving the Kerbalverse features, like for instance the fact that they are little green man, not humans.

Thank you for reading, folks! I hope you enjoy the story as much as I do :) Thank you for this passing year and see you in the 2014!

Oh, and instead of the obligatory sneak-peak screenshot I'm giving you this:

Happy New Year everybody!

"Meanwhile, at KSC, everybody is laughing maniacally at their successful plan."

That's pretty much the vibe I'm getting from your representation of KSC in this story.

Oh, and R.I.P. in peace, Bob and Genanand.

I wonder if the ending will be like Gravity where only one Kerbal ends up coming back alive. That would be pretty hilarious.

Less hilarious and more... GAAAAAHHHHH!!!! NOOOOOO! or other words of that ilk.

What if that face means... BERTY finally snaps next chapter?!

And it's entirely possible that BERTY snaps and... we won't notice. Bear in mind that, as he (it?) himself has repeatedly stated... he isn't human... er... Kerbal. You know what I mean. Anyway, it's possible that BERTY 'snapping' could bear fruit in numerous ways. Not all would be presented in the obvious 'The Computer Is INSANE!' scenario. How about BERTY changing minds from minute to minute as to what he believes is the right thing to do? Or simply deciding to 'change the rules' again on what is OK to do, and the reasons there-to-fore. We still don't know the reasons behind his emphaticness (if that's even a word!) that he is doing what he is doing. 'For all Kerbalkind' has been bandied around... but still no reason given... as yet.

I think this calls for a 'Dun Dun DUUUNNN!'.... and cue Jeb and BERTY.

Bill you monster D:

And still looking forward to the next chapter, not meaning to sound rude, but I can't wait for it to be over, see how all the tiny plot points, the MIR station around Ike, the Duna base an- wait, the Mir station and Duna base? It's time for...

CONSPIRACY THEROYS :)

The Krussians have successfully colonized Duna and the Neo-Kerbmunists have captured the science team there.
