  1. Once again, I remember why I'm not really proud to be American. This chapter provides a great summary for why I feel this way - if only it had mentioned the imperial measurement system in there as well it would have been complete!
  2. The problem I see with an animated movie is that the story is so long that it would take forever to do all the animations + voice acting + editing + music! So I think the best way to start out would be to do a particularly memorable chapter for proof-of-concept, perhaps the Eve ascent chapter which was my favorite because it was so dramatic.
  3. It still seems like a minor orbit change outside of the Duna system - perhaps a burn to solar orbit to get away from Rozer and the others while waiting for an Eeloo window? Or a flyby of another planet first?
  4. Let me guess: Proteus is going to Eeloo now. To achieve the original goals of the mission.
  5. After all this is The Grand Tour. Eeloo is still feeling horribly lonely and excluded out there. So I can't help but wonder, would human intervention from NASA and their warp drives make this possible and complete the tour?
  6. Chance of a skinny scroll bar is getting higher and higher!
  7. When I use this mod with the Clouds and City Lights add-on (the high-res version), it freezes very early on load when it says "kerbin1". I've tested it with just these two mods in my GameData, otherwise it's a completely clean installation. This is definitely not an out of memory error as I have 8 GB and it is barely using more than 1 when it freezes. It seems to work just fine with the lo-res version of the clouds. Any ideas?
  8. Well I guess he didn't provide an error range of the T-minus 48 hours, but it sounds like it might have been more than a day, but I can live with that
  9. You have given me a new insight into my prediction for the ending of the story. There's still plenty of room for a happy ending!
  10. I patiently await the well-known satisfaction of seeing a page load with a really tiny scroll bar.
  11. Use tomato acid to loosen the dang thing. Um, how do I land on Laythe again?
  12. Step 1. Acquire an industrial twin-turbine engine. Step 2. Cut some metal off of the turbine and shape it into a long thin stick. Step 3. Shape it into a paperclip. How do U get mods on ksp?
  13. Next chapter is gonna be a big one. So I'll wait as long as need be.
  14. I believe they're called z-pinch fusion engines, but they are an old version made for 0.18 and are currently buried deep in the forums. Then again, I vaguely remember someone having updated it to the latest version since then...
  15. The only disadvantage I see is that it leaves you in an eccentric orbit going from low Jool to Ike orbit, at best. Which means engines or aerobraking for the rest of the way to Low Jool Orbit. But it's probably a lot less dangerous than going the full way! Although, it does mean losing the Kerbin free return window.
  16. This is a difficult question to answer. I currently lean toward engine-only braking, because if the engines appear too unstable before the burn, or fail to ignite, then they can take the free-return option. However, if the engines fail midway through, they could be stranded in some wonky eccentric Duna orbit, or worse, back out into solar orbit without the Kerbin encounter or any hope of returning home (would RCS be enough to correct for it in this case?). A light aerobraking plus engines might make it safer by reducing burn time, but again if the engines are going to fail, we don't have enough information on WHEN they might do so and if aerobraking would prevent it from happening with reduced burn time, and this rules out the free return trajectory option. A full aerobraking seems too risky at this point, but again, I don't really have enough objective information to know if it's any safer than engines on for a few minutes (which didn't prove to be any safer during the Eve flyby). Leaving open the Kerbin free return trajectory seems like the most sensible choice here. They will make an attempt to save the Duna crew, and if they need to use the free return they will already know that saving them will be impossible. Therefore: Insertion Burn
  17. Yeah, a new "Grand Tour" of outer planets from Planetfactory CE would make for some awesome possibilities. Of course, I can't speak for the plans of the great Czokletmuss and I'm sure it would be a while seeing as this one isn't even finished yet.
  18. The fact that Sid got left behind on Laythe, which is already established to have oxygen in its atmosphere, really makes me think that there may be a plot twist waiting to happen. Either he takes his suit off and finds himself able to breathe, or somehow he is able to replenish his suit Oxium using the atmosphere? He'll probably die to radiation or something later on, but this plot possibility seems undeniable to me. Also, usually when a crew member dies you post a mission status update to reflect the changes. I don't see one this time... hmmm.
  19. It looks as if Bop switches back and forth between a more detailed and less detailed version of its model, when at a medium to far distance within Bop's SOI, which seems to cause the lag going along with it. This is with running Bop in Kerbin's SOI.
  20. 4 minutes! I wonder how much nominal there will be this time.
  21. Legal stuff? I think the hardest part would be finding a publisher for this sort of stuff, because publishing companies are often big control freaks that require everything to conform to a certain formula. Something like this with lots of inside Kerbal humor would probably not impress publishers as much as we all wish it would, although it is certainly deserving of more. I've always wondered if it could be translated to video format, if we could find people to do all the voices and animation and KSP recording and stuff.
  22. I'm with Berty on the moral side, but Jeb on the mission side, I guess. Jeb is a bit of a stretch thinker, and I feel he underestimates danger, but BERTY underestimates possibilities and is only worsening the crew's situation (minus Rozer).
  23. I wonder if the ending will be like Gravity where only one Kerbal ends up coming back alive. That would be pretty hilarious.
  24. Let me guess - it will have something to do with Duna.
  25. Nice! Looking forward to the next chapter. I would donate to cover those costs except that I'm currently too poor, but I might just chip some in as they keep coming.
