Swing wing?

Recommended Posts

Just been playing around with an experimental swing-wing aircraft, (not pretty, I know, just a test-bed). Aside from looking cool, does swinging the wing get simulated? In the SPH swinging the wing does move the center of lift, but in flight, as far as I can tell, the dynamics seem the same fully retracted or fully extended. The drag visualizer is the same in both positions. Note, no ailerons on the wings.

Is my test not nuanced enough, or am I wasting my time?

I believe KSP won’t really act any differently unless you use FAR, which adds more realistic aerodynamic modelling. Stock KSP only cares about the angle of incidence, it doesn’t have any of the complexities that a variable sweep wing is designed to deal with e.g. transonic drag and shockwaves.
