DESCRIPTION: Unplanned rapid dissasembly 6k meters off of the ground

LAUNCH SITE: KERBAL SPACE CENTER

 

Description

Mission Start: 05:03

Expected Per/Apo (orb):  120k / 130k (m) low orbit

Actual Per/Apo (orb) 126k / 127k (m) low orb

Expected Outcome: Deployment of Kubble Telescope, landing site at approx 362m from KSC

Actual Outcome: Kubble Telescope deployed successfully, severe damage to front/right sides of Renaissance

05:03 - Mission start; main ignition and liftoff

05:17 - Passed altitude of 1k meters

06:36 - Depletion of first stage; release of Clydestale Engine 1-2; atmosphere burn up, est max temperature 2173K

08:16 - Renaissance surpasses the Kerman Line at 70k meters

09:03 - Final orbital burn, reached stable orbit status at 126k per 127k apo (in meters)

09:13 - Deployment of Kubble Telescope

10:27 - Jebediah Kerman performs extra-vehicular activity

12:23 - Jebediah Kerman returns from EVA

13:55 - Deorbit burn; apoapsis lowered to approx 53,000m

14:37 - Renaissance reenters at 2,371 m/s

15:26 - Explosion heard, critical damage to left OMS unit

15:47 - Engines 2 and 3 overheat, est temp 2471k

16:16 - Deployement of landing gear

16:47 - Crashed approx 716m from launch site

 

Summary

The crew fortunately did not sustain major injuries. The Renaissance and its nearby debris were utilized for building new rockets.
