If your thinking about building some kind of large comprehensive pack Devo... (yes, please!) your gonna need a good Test Pilot... I'll take the job... if it's open. :D

Well I think alot of lessons can be learned from the B9 Aerospace pack, so I'll take those hints from the thread and apply them to this project. :) I think that thread is a pretty good indicator of what can go right, and also what can go wrong when you release such a large pack like that. So, I said if I'm ever going to try something with that many parts, they really need to be tested individually first and thoroughly to avoid the 50 pages of problems you have to deal with. So.. I will send you and Sirkut a PM outlining whats going on, I left my sketches at work, ill scan them in so you guys can just get an idea of it.

Sounds like a plan Devo!

I actually dreamt was a kerbal last night, using it.. it was a fortunate dream (as i dont dream often really) so I actually have a colour version in my head now lol.... thats what a glass of red does before bed I suppose

hehe

I also better update the Pegasus Shuttle... I looked last week it was at 10k downloads, its now at 17915... and it hasn't even been updated.. should go like a cracker when I do :)

I keep thinkin to myself

'wonder how many other mods this Wayland corp pack Devo is dreamin up is gonna replace'

just thought id share =)

In unrelated news:

SQUID panels are NOT a viable cargo securing system for the WT-51, not as is at any rate, got to mess with the setting to much in flight for em to work...so moving on from that.....

..

1 Pack at a time now :)

Since I have decided not to try and model too many more sci fi craft from movies etc, I will be alot more focused - no more working on 5 mod packs at a time, that just doesnt allow you to put the same effort into all of them.

Totally off topic...

Have a look at this picture.. :) :)

This is the last thing my colleagues AR Drone saw/filmed before my Drone totally T-boned him and took him out. was not pretty. (warehouse literally next door to my office, we fly in there regularly)

My Damage = $170

his Damage = $110

:(

ouch

Where do you work where you can fly drones on the job and do they have any openings?

Well, being in IT our excuse is we are testing the WIFI access points in the warehouse... remotely :) We do have jobs going, feel like a move down under ?

We have a 2500 sqm warehouse for stock storage with very high a very high roof. As long as you wear your orange safety vest in there, anything goes! including sports hehe

Heya!

I would like to officially welcome Sirkut to the Team!!

Who is he? where did he come from? all I know is one day I woke up, and he had fixed an IVA on both my rover and pod

and now a couple days later, supplied a a working damned robotics plugin for KSP 0.20.2 for me, so yeah I'm humbled and grateful at the same time.

Now that we have both coding and modelling sorted (Sirkut seems very comfortable with the coding side also, which is a great bonus) We should be able to develop some truly unique mods.

We are working on a project, yes..

The reason im not listing the project here is because I simply want to focus on it and not feel like im rushing it, its very big, very comprehensive - but most importantly its original and should hopefully stand on its own as both a stock replacement and also a fun kit. It will also be so big, it's going to really need it's own thread.

So as I mentioned going to cease a few things to spend more time with my family, but still, I can't seem keep away from this place, i guess i'm hooked. Do chemists sell Kerbal Patches?

Wayland Corp Status:

Projects on Hold, and Projects to be finished soon:

1. Valley Forge. Temporarily on hold, Biodomes were made, but delivering a 2 kilometer ship into orbit just proved too much for KSP right now, at least on my PC. The results too varied to promise a release date.

The Poll listing:

Biodomes from "Silent Running" w/animated doors and delivery system - ON HOLD.

ALIENS Marine Dropship (fully animated] done.

ALIENS APC Transport done.

ALIENS: The Sulaco -Still happening, very close I swear I will finish it

Star Wars - YT-1300 Milennium Falcon, Low poly, fully animated (landing ramp, cargo bay etc)

Star Wars - Boba Fett SLAVE1 - cancelled. Ship deemed too sci fi and very much not KSP.

Star Wars - Rebel B-Wing fighter. cancelled. no ones wants star wars ships in ksp really, and i dont to be honest either :)

Star Wars - Original X-Wing. cancelled. no ones wants star wars ships in ksp really, and i dont to be honest either :)

Space Eagle 1999 - To be fixed for 0.20.2 Would appreciate an eagle fan fixing that pack up if they have time, its not a big ask -test pilots perhaps?

PegasusX2 - Being Updated now to 0.20.2

WT-51 Transport - Updated to 0.20.2 and will be updated through to KSP's release and beyond, I like this ship.

Egg pod - updated to 0.20.2

FL1 Rover / Pod - Finished for now, don't hold breath for update.

Star wars / Star Trek ships all cancelled.

If, and if they ever add native part gravity to the game, I will do the Enterprise, without a bridge you can walk around, its not worth it. You have seen the pyratemorgans ripped 3d mesh ships on the spaceport, I dont like single piece ships myself, nor anti gravity hacks, nor using mods for a version of KSP thats .. 0.18.4. im a little bit past that now.. :)

Do you guys want to fly a dropship or sci fi ship thats in one single piece? that takes no work to put together for you?

Do people actually like the Building aspect of KSP or do you just want to load it up and fly? (Im asking in general) it will help on this next big project.

Anyway, here is a spoiler .. the rover wheels below had a few different concepts done, but the bottom picture is the current setup, the long legs are retractable yes but

they were very hard to drive with, just too long.. so have cut them down as you can see in the bottom.

Finished concept (textures still need completing)

Those wheels look awesome, makes the rover look like some rally truck/rock climber hybrid (that can also time travel...anything with gullwing doors can time travel ya know!!)

To answer your question:

I love the building aspect. I enjoy building, testing, and tweeking my creations as much as I do flying missions. Don't get me wrong, there are some nice premade ships that I use in game (mainly the WT-51 and 2 planes from B9) but even the useable premade stuff starts as parts, and it works because the user can modify it to suit. In my opinion part of what makes the Wt-51 a good ship is the easy and can be made to work for a variety of cargo. True, it works great 'out of the box' so to speak, but can also be rebuild a number of ways to be fit for purpose.

Besides...if you don't build you don't test...if you don't test your missing out on some of the most chaoticly wonderful mishaps of KSP. Seems like all the most entertaining 'ohhhh noooo' moments happen when im testing ideas and builds.

when i download a mod, i just want the whole thing there, i don't like assembling anything if it isn't vanilla, i'm just too familliar with Vanilla parts, it's like an XP user testing out Windows 8

err.. sorry not really following you there...

The wheels were not originally part of the rover pack. I added them almost a week after the original pack just to see if they worked for people or not, as they were sort of the first set I tried. The APC wheels are made for the APC only, so I wanted to make something that was more universal. I am sorry sire that I did not upload the full pack in the initial instance, If I could have harnessed the power of time travel, travelled forward a week int the future and put those files on a USB stick, travelled back and then put it in the original pack, I would have, but alas, I do not possess such powers. In future, I shall refrain from posting any mods until all future and unplanned additions are in them. :)
