[0.21.1] HydroTech RCS Autopilot v0.5.1 (2013.8.28)

Typicaly if the inbound vessel ends up spinning around the target vehicle it means the approach was a bit off. Its best to use engine power till your within 80meters. Use time warp rather than increasing speed...I personaly never let my +relative velocity go over 2m/s. In a good approach expect to kill your relative velocity several times. Also make sure you are within 80meters and your relative velocity to target is zero (or as close as possible) before you change from approach to docking.

Also make sure all the HydroTech parts are mounted properly...when I first found this mod I had an issues with that. If a camera or target is backwards or clipped by another part it can create issues.

Hope this helps.

Hm, your answer doesn't help me that much because now I don't know what the problem is? So I have to do a good approach? What does that mean? Do I have to look straight into the other camera? In the tutorial videos they never do it like this.

HydroTech parts - I use the premounted, so I don't see how I can do something wrong there.

My problem is not that automated docking does not work, I don't even get the optio. It just says "no target in sight".

It's not that docking doesn't work, I just can't get a target. In the Youtube-tutorials they just approach the target, then they select it. I don't get that option.

I'm pretty sure my parts are correctly mounted, I used the tutorials and premade combinations in the part list.

But it doesn't matter how fast I am, what angle I approach or how close or far away I am: I just can't get any targets. It is as if I was completely alone up there.

I'm pretty sure I build it right because I used the video tutorials as a guide, but I never get to the point where I can choose the target I want to dock with.

Even the all in one parts can be mounted backwards...and targets can only be selected within about 92meters...

And a good approach can make or break a docking

Honestly though, sounds like ya got the part on wrong, or more probable is another part is clipping the targecamera, causing the issues

By approach I mean the navigation needed to get 2 ships from being, lets say 2km apart, down to 100meters or less...this is your Docking Approach

Can anyone tell me how to work this mod. I'm using ksp 2.0.2 iv watched the YouTube vid on how to use it. But when I try to use the docking assistant it lets me select the camera but says there's no targets in sight. The ships I'm trying to dock are the same and I'm within 90m of each other. Can anyone please help

The 2 ships are the same I put one in orbit then the other with just the name being different. I used the all in one part under the one man pod with a docking port on the top. The parts are the right way round. There's no other mods on the ships and I'm less than 90m from the target ship. Iv tried going out and docking from the other shop also. Thanks

Somehow this mod suddenly stopped working for me...

At the launchpat I can activate without problem, but once I launch, the dropdown menue vanishes.

Me currently docking with mechjeb, cause I noticed to late :(

Will investigate further and post a proper Bugreport in the development thread.

I'm not sure what's going on with that part... In fact I have two copies of KSP, one I play, the other I test my mod, and the problem only exists for the first one. I'll try to fix it though.

Also, do you remember this problem in previous versions? Clearly I didn't make any changes to that part, as you can tell from the date modified of its files

Question like that, do you have MechJeb or Kerbal Engineer on your mod testing copy and on your normal KSP? Because I noticed the mod prevented those two mods from calcultating the delta V of my rocket. I took the folder out of gamedata and reloaded everything in game and it worked fine. Maybe the plugin is interacting with them and it'S making things work weird? And no I never had this problem before, your mod always worked perfectly.

No I don't have other mods installed, but I don't think there should be any problem with other plugins. Since you mentioned that if you put things out of GameData it will be fine, it is obvious that it's the problem of the game, and I can hardly do anything about it.

But thanks for your report. If I can figure out what the problem is, I will contact the devs and hopefully they know what to do

Nah I mean I literally took the mod folder and dragged it to my desktop and then things worked :l Out of everything lol.

Jamie221085,

Do you have a docking target on the target vessel? Also, I've removed the 100m limit so you should be able to use docking assistance as long as the target vessel is loaded.

Klajan,

Please go to the development thread and follow the "How to report a bug" there.

Something in the development thread, and I think I should post here again

Alright guys I made a stupid mistake. Thanks for Klajan for pointing it out.

The folder name should be GameData\HydroTech\PluginData\rcsautopilot instead of autopilots. I've uploaded a new one on KSPort but you don't really need to download it. Just change the name and everything should be fine.

stupid_chris (and probably others who have different problems), this should fix your problem.

Silly question perhaps but is there a way to add the camera/target functionality to the docking ports themselves? I could see stations with lots of ports getting bogged down partwise (never mind managing to forget one on a critical port)

They both have the cam and target. What do you mean by loaded ?

Thanks

If you can see it, it's loaded.

Please fix the thing I posted in #41 first, and if the problem still exists, go to the development thread and follow "How to report a bug" there

Both of them are part modules

Same here...NO TARGETS IN SIGHT regardless of range. Micheal it would be nice if you were more specific with the install instructions. For example, do we delete anything if we have the older version? And, in the zip file, do we put the game data folder in the KSP game data folder or do we put the contents of the zipped game data folder into KSP game data folder? The install instructions are vague and generic.

did you unzip the download file? cant add a mod zipped. Also there are a couple threads discussing in detail how to install mods post 0.20 in support forum if his instructions are to vague.

  • 4 weeks later...

Is there any information I missed about how to best utilize the RCS Thrust Info data?

What do the first & second numbers mean? Ex. Pitch down: 5.44, 0.06

What would be considered optimal or "good enough"?
