Normal maps

Recommended Posts

You set up normal maps as part of building your part in Unity. If you don't know how to do that I suggest you have a look here first. After that, it's a matter of simply switching the shader that you want your part to have.

Choosing a shader:

After that you drag and drop your texture and your normal map into their respective boxes on the shader segment. If this is the first time you're using the normal map, a small warning should appear below it that will ask if you want to convert the texture into a proper normal map. Always pick yes, or whatever the actual dialog says.

It's that simple.

I'm afraid I have no idea what that is. :(

Check your CFG to make sure it is pointing to the right files, and that you don't have any duplicate files or anything in your parts folder. If all seems well, rebuild the part in Unity, double checking everything and then try it again.

normal map ingame is waaayyyyyyy too strong, its like a bumpmap gone crazy i turned the bumpiness multiplier down to 0.009, but atm im just having an issue with using hyper edit to put it into orbit, some issue with the collision mesh, it starts jumping around and when i set it into an orbit it just goes poof, like kerbals hitting the moon. Do you have to use convex in the mesh collider settings.
