I for one really dislike lens flares, and love the clean look of these pictures. Huge lens flares really really detract from something for me, so +1 rareden for not going down that road!

large flares are also useful to cover up artifacts sometimes

What did you change? Btw i noticed some missing parts like RCS thruster and some displaced things like The Mechjeb unit and small girder. Are those limitations in the software you use? Edited June 14, 2013 by Canopus

lighting and reflections on the ship, it just didnt look like part of the image.

There is a small RCS thruster on turned around 180 degree on of the lifeboats. A small Mechjeb AR202 on of of the landers engines. And some stuff is just missing. Still great work

Let's say hypothetically you had no requests at all. And hypothetically, I had a proof-of-concept Icarus II replica sitting in the VAB (I actually do). Hypothetically I asked for the thing next to Kerbol. Would I have to build a lifter and interplanetary stage so it would be capable of going there, or do you add the scenery through other means (ie. just putting the whole thing into a rendering program without flying it, or using infini-fuel, or Hyperedit, or something else because I don't know how you do these).

i think i saw your craft on google images, no you wouldnt need to build all those stages,

what i do is i use hyper edit to move it to some random number like 5,411,123,412,565,345,km from the sun so i dont get anything planets in the capture then do my magic and put it all together in my modeling program

I actually scrapped my 3-part Icarus II because it was too laggy and crashed everything. The one I've got sitting in the VAB looks like this:

Regardless, I'll just step down and wait until you (or if you) start taking requests again.

i presume those pannles fold out + it looks damn good

and yes at somepoint i will start takin requests again, although it seems a lot of people dont read the message at the bottom of the OP and PM me requests anyway

While not totally correct, I built something with a similar role to the Icarus II. Except .. Instead of bombing the sun, I just flew around it and and collected data (Let's just pretend our Kerbals didnt just eat toothpaste and give eachother wet-willies the whole ride.)

Looking back on it i'm not very satisfied. But I sure was proud when I completed it.
