Should i get KW Rocketry?

I dunno. I used KW for a while, but I found a lot of their engines to be a little bit too powerful. It felt like cheating. I couldn't use the stock engines either because they are designed for 2m parts and most of KW seems to be 3m parts which is kind of annoying. It does add a lot of cool stuff though if you don't mind the power of it...(I do miss the fairings quite a lot)

What do u mean "try it out on a fresh save" how do i do that?

If you load up KSP you have the option of multiple save files (each with the Kerbal system). Im not sure if that's true for the demo. If you create a new save file you can use the mod parts away from your vanilla version. unfortunately creating another saved file doesn't prevent mod parts being available to the vanilla game. If you really want to you could copy your ksp file and have two versions of the game, one vanilla and one for mods, lots of people seem to have this set up.

I like both KW and NP. I also think KSPX is a must.

Just make a copy of your unblemished Parts file before you add any mods, and you can always revert back. Also each of these mods comes with highly identifiable parts folders, so it is easy to remove specific parts you don't like.

I have to admit that I love the KW rocketry pack because of the Arianne booster that I used a lot (before I realised that SRB's suck and went to all liquid fuelled boosters). I still use the KW rocketry tanks but not the engines much. Mind you I have Novapunch installed too.

Oh and if you are talking overpowered engines, some of the Novapunch engines are WAY overpowered. KW fairings are nice but GOD do they wobble about without a ton of struts to stabilise it.

Basically every pack has good and bad things. And you can't cheat in this game because it is solo gaming. If you can build it in real life then it's not cheating at all.

I play KW exclusively- I've actually removed most of the stock rocket parts to improve loading times and responsiveness. People say the engines are overpowered, but there are really only a few. For that matter, people who complain about 3.75m engines seem to forget that they're quite a bit larger than 2.5m engines- of course they'll be very powerful, but it's not OP.

I used to play NP, but I really disliked the fairings in it and also found that, especially with the 2.5m engines, you could get ridiculous dV out of rockets. I remember one near Gemini clone I made in NP that wound up having something like 9500 dV- enough to make it to Low Earth Orbit!

NP has great escape towers and lander parts, along with a few other miscellaneous items. I use KW for fuel tanks, engines, decouplers, struts, etc. however. It's certainly my favorite mod, I'd definitely encourage it!

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Yes.

No no no. The joke is

"Short answer: Yes. Long answer: Yeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssssssss." (Works better with "no", though.)

To the OP: yes, get it. The parts are all very well-balanced, stat-wise; they're not any more efficient or powerful than existing stock parts. Basically, each size category will have three options: a high-efficiency, low-thrust engine for orbital work, a low-efficiency, high-thrust engine for launches, and a workhorse that falls in-between. The stock rockets basically fall into that third group, so at first it might appear that the KW parts (especially the high-thrust sets) are too good, but you'll quickly realize that having high thrust doesn't mean much when you run out of fuel too soon. The KW 3.75m tanks are absolutely essential for heavy-lift designs (including space stations), not because they're inherently better, but because it keeps your part count low enough that the game engine doesn't choke; each large tank can replace three or four of the stock oranges. And it's really nice to have more SRB options than just the two stock types.
