Your own Delta Glider. Challenge 1 the Dark side of Kerth.

Recommended Posts

This is a challenge for those who like it. 1 liquid engine the C7 flight pack and no SAS and the parachute from the D.E.R.P Co pack.

Alright so here is the deal you can only use the C7 flight pack and the DERP parachute I want to to go into partial orbit and land on the dark side of Kerth. The dark side is where you can barely see the ground. Now for a story of why to people who read.

Kerth is always sunny... Always! Because as we know Kerth doesn't spin. The people of Kerth are stuck on their landmass and have always wondered whats on the dark side of Kerth. So instead of just flying there and landing they want to send a shuttle there to see if there are any dangers. You are only allowed to use one parachute and the liquid engine from the C7 pack. Good Luck and the people of Kerth need you... so they can sleep.

More parameters required.

For those not in the loop, the Delta Glider is a spaceplane with delta wings (duh!) in the flight/space sim Orbiter.

Or its a rocker/recliner... which might make more sense for the Kerbal space program, trying to orbit a La-Z-Boy.

So obviously we can't JUST use C7 Engine -> Command Pod -> Parachute as that leaves out... fuel.

Its also rather lacking in gliding without some wings.

So... 1 engine/tank/set of wings?

Also, partial orbit? Min altitude? Above 65k to leave the atmosphere, and then deburn to re-enter on the dark side?

Yeah, spaceplanes in particular, with their wings causing strange aerodynamic forces in the upper atmosphere and lots of rotational inertia in space, are extremely difficult to fly at high altitudes without SAS. My \'delta-glider\' style spaceplane uses, I believe, 6 of Sunday Punch\'s vernier pods to help with rotation damping in space.

As for this challenge-wouldn\'t it make more sense, and be more challenging, if you also had to return?
