Does anyone know this game?

Im pretty excited for it, allready pre-ordered.

Planetary Annihilation is an upcoming real-time strategy computer game in development by Uber Entertainment. It is being developed by much of the team responsible for Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander. -Wikipedia.

Anyone played Supreme Commander; FA by the way??

Kickstarter video, pretty much explains everything!

Some images of the game development so far.

Nice! So, what do you think of the PA economic system? Apparently, things cost only metal to engies to make something (as in making a factory), instead of costing metal+energy..

I really liked how SupCom was challenging in that way, where you had too be careful and plan things beforehand or your economy would crash.

I think this new method makes the game "easier" (at least the economic part) and could be less challenging..as in SupCom2.

Either way, I hope a mod can modify the economic system :P

What do you think?

You have misunderstood it; engineers will have a fixed "build power" that defines how much metal they use per second, no matter what structure they're building. So you can always think "right, I've got 7 engineers building things right now and that means I am using 14 metal per second". The amount of energy they use depends on which structure they're building. So they do use metal+energy, it's just they use metal at a fixed rate, so it's easier to manage. This is a good thing imo.

yeah, basically its the TA/supcom economy with a slight difference.

your build rate determines the progress per tick, and the unit cost determines how much metal and energy that tick will cost that engineer.

in TA and Supcom, you got so much done as a percentage, and if the unit was ridiculously expensive, well, guess what, building that is going to hurt your budget big time.

In PA, you can only spend so much through an engineer in metal. Energy fluctuates, but if it maxes out at say, 17 metal per tick, well, you'll never have it cost you more than that.

And I agree its a good thing. it also makes more sense. if my engineer can build a tier three power plant at 60 metal per second, why must that factory be built at 17 metal per second. Why not build the factory faster, you can obviously work the metal that quickly. ANd thats what they've done it seems. more consistent build rate, and no surprise economy rape just because you didn't realise what building that was going to cost per tick.

Okay I get it now, but I still like having to see building rates and I manage pretty good with that.

Anyway, it seems like a good system.

I will still play SupCom:FA once PA is out so...yeah who cares! I just want PA now!!!!!!

Anyone got alpha access? I got the "combat" edition so no alpha nor beta for me ;.;

BTW, does anybody know if the planet builder is going to be released with the game? I hope it does!

They said that there will be a random planet generator (with sliders you can use to customize the planet) but they do not plan to make a planet editor. However, they feel certain that fans will make an editor themselves, since they are leaving that option open to modders...
