NEW SAVE IS OUT!

DOWNLOAD

Features:

- orbital stations "Horizon", "Saphire, "Emerald and Gamma

- ComLink array in keo-stationary orbit above KSC

- DCMS Ark Royal fully fueled and ready to deliver first payload to Laythe

- MCLEC Essex in orbit waiting to for supplies to acompany DCMS Ark Royal to system Joolian system

- Fully loaded fighter SSTO on runway prepared for training mission

- Ammo carrying vessel on launchpad ready to re-supply MCLEC Essex

- new ships

Suggested training missions:

- take of from runway with ARX-3 Avionics Vulture and take out the target nearby (rockets are fired by staging, be sure that decouplers are on the same stage as sepratrons)

- launch a Marduk Carrier from launchpad and resuply MCLEC Essex with ammo

- 2 Ion Fighters are docked to "Horizon" take them for spin and discover their capabilities

- both DCMS Ark Roayl and MCLEC Essex are without crew - launch, rendezvous and transfer crew

Points to discuss for future missions:

1. Most of the ships needed for project is already done or being built, tested or need minor modifications.

- Hedgehog is in its final testing phase being built by 3rd party contractor

- Candle of Babylon is Being built by KD3

- Swallow fighter is being currently tested by me

- Grif SAR needs few modifications - I´m waiting for Hedgehog to be deliverd so I can modify it for ground refueling.

- Ant-hill colony - we need to come up with design.

2. We need to start thinking where to place our colony. Also we have to design colony ship - it is propably only major ship that is currently missing.

3. What equipment has priority for being delivered to Laythe/Joolian system?

4. Do we have any other goals than establishing colony on surface of Laythe?

5. Suggest any craft we need to add to our disposal.

So, field is open to discussion...

Wow, you lot have been busy. Well, I have too. I have developed a probe launcher. The entire thing can carry a single lander probe and as many satellites as you want, and can easily reach Jool on it's own if you slap on two side tanks with 909s, then add some more satellites. I'm sure it could be modded for powered landers too.

Two satellites and a lander there. What you're looking at isn't the interplanetary section, that's the lv909 in from of the decoupler. No, that's the middle of my (very much Kerbal) launcher, with still 700dv I believe.

Still runs at half a frame a second... Thank you satellites!

Nice, but I suggest you now focus on your piloting skills and docking :) We need experienced pilots! :) Building ships is not the biggest priority right now :)

Anyone who wants to be test pilot or engineer take a look at the save file, fly and test those ships, take a look at the stations and come up with ideas... :)

These are big, but I'm gonna throw them up here anyway in case you guys are running heavy comps.

This is my assembled Laythe fuel depot. Jet and Xenon fuel as well.

Pro: It could run your operations for a LONG time. Booster modules are probed, and can decouple and de orbit once destination is reached to drop part count.

Con: Takes me about 5 hours to assemble.

If you ever have need of a heavy cruiser, I offer my BC-01 series. This is the Broadsword. It can carry a total of 32 smart torps, 2 SRB rockets (can be equipped for 4), and 2 decoupler/sepratron batteries. Also capable of carrying cargo.

Pro: Enough fuel for a round trip to Laythe and back. Moar missiles!

Con: Can only be launched with SRB munitions equipped. Launch is unorthodox. Stable orbit ends with a 75kPE / 480kAP. It also is left with about 500 units of it's own fuel. Must be fueled and armed in orbit.

Yep, propably 4 jets VTOL I presume - like Macey Dean did, seems most practical to me - you dip it into atmo and the you flight to desired position and land via helps of parachutes, don´t need to be big and part count is concern...

KD3: Great to hear!

Well it depends on delivery system - if the beacon has it´s own Laythe trabel stage then no docking, if not - it will be transported hooked up to DCMS ship propably like that:

Ok, just make it to get into Kerbin orbit and to dock and I´ll or someone else handle the rest :)

Important notice

I´ve decided to step down a little bit of those huge military spendings which were cutting major part of Project BABYLON budget. So announce cration of KADF - Kerbin Auxiliary Defense Force - a civilian unit authorized to provide security in Kerbin-Mün-Minmus system and guarding key locations and instalations. Force will be exclusively equiped with XF-100 light patrol crafts which are adopted as a "Grasshopper" class frigate. If KADF will be successful their authority may be extended outside the Kerbin inner system.

It really is a shame you aren't using any mods. If you had just one it would make it a lot easier... ie the Kethane mod. You still have to scan for the resources, drill for them and then convert them into usable fuel. Would make it a lot easier than having to ferry fuel from Kerbin.

Well, yeah, but ...

1. I dont like mods for any game...

2. Keeping whole crew supplied with same mods

3. When I started I was awatinig resources any moment

4. And yes, keeping colony supplied with fuel is gargantuan task...

I have a new module + four orange tanks, and four fleas screaming towards vall for the emerald base.

I had to mate the fuel/flea to the transfer stage in orbit, and then triple-dock them, before transferring them, it's four nukes for a 30 ton vessel. 15 minute burn, coming up.

The transfer stage has one KSPX part on it by accident, but it will be ditched when it reaches Jool.

Edit: it was cool tearing past horizon at 500m/s relative to it to daft punk's new single.

Made it more compact, didn't need all that jet fuel afterall. Does not "need" RCS in flight unless you plan on using the rear turbine. Can easily land on engines, chutes make it easier. Easy to relocate. Stable on re-entry...does not tumble. Launch vehicle pending design approval, of course. :D
