Basically, you know how whenever you draw a graph of a function, you use a couple of numbers for one of the variables (-1,0,1,2 etc..), get the result for the other variable, place dots on the graph at the coordinates you got this way and then play connect-the-dots to get the graph of the function? Well, a set of all possible dots for that function is the locus...
