Gas giants... can we have a ringed one

Hi

Would it be possible to add 'saturn' type planet to the game.... looking back on some screenshots from a Laythe mission, and seeing Jool in the sky,i thought all this needs to be perfect is a ringed gas giant.

I would have stuck this in suggestions... but it says no planet discussion in the sticky

Its planned, but KSP needs more optimization first.

How would the rings be implemented? Would they be made up of tons of tiny rocks, like real life? Because that would lag like crazy! I guess if it was just one static object, and you could pass through it similarly to the ground scatter, that would work.

It would definitely look beautiful from afar though!

Rings are mostly empty space, but they will probably use something similar to the terrain scatter feature.

Trying to fly to a jovian with a ring would be difficult, assuming you had to be careful to NOT hit the ring. You could only aerobrake if you come in on a sufficiently inclined trajectory.
