To Orbit Without Decoupling

Recommended Posts

Simple challenge, most tons to orbit using SSTO. Intake Air not allowed.

Extra points for a SSTO on Eve (can start with full fuel)

My idea is to create a lander that could fly from planet to planet with only mid-flight refueling, eventual goal for myself is to land on every solid planet in a single mission. SSTO on EVE is, I believe, being discussed elsewhere and as such this thread will turn into a straight "most tons to orbit using SSTO" challenge.

I would edit thread name if it would let me.

Current Leaders:

ISTAS - Mass to orbit: 2343.67 tons.

Or the other way around meaning no IntakeAir? There've been several rocket-only SSTO challenges now. lump has some rather enormous SSTO's that you can find if you look around some other threads.

"most mass into orbit without any part of the ship becoming detached from any other part. Stock parts only, mechjeb ok; must not use" (intake air).

I can do that.

Part count: 1549

Takeoff mass: 8981 tons. (the pic was taken 9 dV into flight)

Just about useless once it gets there because the part count's so high it would be nearly impossible to dock with it, even though it's got 13.5 orange tanks' worth of fuel remaining. But still, there it is.

Way to take an idea and run with it lol. At least we know an orange tank with little engines is efficient...

Guys i've got a few:

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/24850-stock-SSTO-Rocket/page3

on this SSTO challenge i made the goliath, an SSTO capable of talking a lander with it to places like Duna, if you use it to refuel my smallest SSTO:

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/26634-Possibly-the-smallest-Rocket-only-SSTO-to-escape-Kerbol-to-date

then with the smallest one you could easily get to any of the planets with lots of fuel to spare, then just launch more Goliaths to the planets for 1500-2000L topup before continuing your adventures, this is what i do right now
