1.25m challenge

Recommended Posts

Deceptively simple challenge go as far as you can using only 1.25 m parts

Use any mod you wish but they have to be 1.25m parts from launch to return. Also you have to list your mods as well.

You can rescale stock parts but you have to downgrade everything by the same factor. No 1.25 m tanks with 10000000 units of fuel

Person that gets to the furthest body with the most kerbals in a single trip wins.

1pt per Kerbal in system

2pt per Kerbal Landed

2x points for returning them to Kerbin

2x for stock only parts.

1x for

mun and minmus

2x points for

Duna, Ike and Eve,

3x

Moho and Jool system

4x

Dres, Gilly

5x

Laythe, Vall

6x

Tylo, Bop, Pol,

10x

Eeloo

So landing 2 kerbals on the mun and returning them to Kerbin would give you 8 points, 4 for getting them there and 2x4 for their return.

My first sad attempt got 4 kerbals to lathe and none survived landing. 20pts

I used Remote Tech, NovaPunch, Quantum strut and FASA Mercury mods. I also scaled down the Crew Cabin by half.

Can we make a ship that is in two stages? Meaning a lander and a booster where the booster stays in orbit and the lander lands then returns and they redock and return?

Anything you use must be 1.25 meter parts. If you can build it in orbit, go ahead, just be sure to only use 1.25m parts to get it there.

This needs to be stock 1.25m only, with certain mods like KSPX allowed

There are a limited number of 1.25m parts even with KSPX so I opened it up to all mods. You are more than welcome to use what ever mods you like if you want more of a challenge.

2x bonus for stock only parts.

Does this mean not using the large command pod, either? It's large, but "as many Kerbals as you can" would otherwise mean having a bunch wait around on the launch pad and then climb ladders into empty 1.25m pods you've placed on the entry ship. Maybe, since Kerbals don't add mass inside command pods, just having a bunch of empty ones could count?

It is not cheating?

I could rescale also mainsail and the Jumbo tank no?

I might be taking "built in orbit if your want" to an extreame, I am launching 12 different parts for a 15 kerbal crew interplanetary ship to Eeloo 3/15 assembled and on currently in orbit...waiting.
