The "Snotra"-Program - Bringing rovers to their destination

Recommended Posts

The Snotra - Program

The "Snotra"-Program is a Kerban initiative to land unmanned exploration rovers on other planets or moons, whether it hosts an atmosphere or not. The program features a landing system and a cruise-stage to savely bring the rover to it's final target.

Though all these crafts only use Stock-parts, it's recommend to use MechJeb to easily counteract minor imbalances during descent, since none of the landing vehicles hosts an A.S.A.S.

On this rover, the whole program is based on. It features scientific instruments adjusted to the environmental conditions at its target.

Nope it isn't but I'm working on a heavy landing vehicle that can land on Moho, Tylo is too big to land a rover with a small vehicle.

Snotra III is here, so it's time to deploy the world's FIRST GARAGE ON THE MÃœN (again)!!!

It is launched on top of an "Ymir II" rocket (not included). I used the cruising stage to execute the deorbit burn at the Mün.

So noone likes to launch rovers anymore?

Thats where youd be terribly wrong! :D

I prefer landing rovers then landing Kerbals! Seems much more fun :) Though I've taken it upon myself to make extremely simplistic rovers.

My Duna rover!

And my Eve rover! Even tinier :D because of the really heavy gravity on Eve I was able to get away with this 3 wheel design without flipping, even when turning sharp at 18 m/s (The super heavy gravity was always pushing it down, not allowing it to flip)

Why am I picturing a large green mucous based lifeform that fights Godzilla when I read the title of this vehicle?

Oh wait. Because it's called Snotra. >:P

Seriously, this has got to be one of the best examples of something not coming across in English as the creator thinks it does! To OP, you may wish to consider renaming this. Snot is what little kids pick out their nose. Mothra and other suffix's of 'ra' are applied to the names of giant monsters in Japanese sci-fi and has become a cliche naming convention used by anyone wanting to take the piss out of Godzilla or that genre of giant monsters. So combined ... you get Snotra, a giant monsterous booger who fights Godzilla and destroys Tokyo. >:P

I laughed so hard when I saw this things name! I'm sure it's something meaningful but I just wanted you to know that most English speakers are thinking this when they see this name! And we will struggle to get that image out of our heads! If that WAS / IS what you're going for though then you absolutely nailed it (I can't really dismiss the possibility that you were intentionally making a joke!) :)
