Landing on specific planet coordinates?

Hi.

Because of reasons, i really want to land on a specific coordinate on the mun. I am in orbit around equator, and the coordinate is [-1.0, 101.0]. How do i do this without mods?

Also, if there was another arbitrary coordinate, how would i find the point to aim at when setting up maneuvers?

The problem with atmospheric planets is that you can't accurately predict the deceleration due to Aerobraking, but on the Mun this shouldn't be a problem - just set up a maneuveur node, and see if it's where you want to be - i might advise having something like Mechjeb so that you know where you need to be in terms of where on the surface that co-ordinate is...

You can just retrograde and look at the map to look where it will land. There's no atmo so it can't slow you down and change the landing location.

The body itself is rotating and that changes your landing location. But with a little practice, it's pretty easy to put your touch-down point the proper distance east of the actual desired landing location during the deorbit burn.

Maneuver nodes are your friend here, use them to burn retrograde to bring your path just a couple of kilometers beyond your destination, and normal or anti normal to push yourself away from the equator as needed. Even on a world without atmosphere, you will still undershoot from where you target as during braking you'll slow down. It may take a reload or two to get it perfectly, but once you get a feel for a particular world it becomes quite simple to land +/- 5km or so. Worlds with atmosphere are even harder as aerobraking will suddenly shave a lot of speed off, as will parachutes.

On low grav worlds it's also very easy to correct your destination once you're coming directly downwards, as long as you still have a bit of height you can tilt in the direction you want to go and burn a bit. Finally, on low grav worlds, if you do come down far away, it can be really quite easy to 'hop' once on the surface. Take off with a very slow rate of ascent, angle in the direction you want to go, push your path out beyond your destination then cut thrust and wait. As you pass very close to your target you should still have a good bit of height left if you pushed your landing spot beyond it. You also shouldn't be moving too fast. So burn prograde hard and come right down. Repeat as required.

You can just retrograde and look at the map to look where it will land...

if you just burn retrograde, your landing spot will change (it will move towards your current location)

a trick I use on planets/moons with no atmosphere is to point my lander to a point in between my retrograde

and the -radial point (straight up)

this way, the landing point will stay roughly the same

you can also use mechjeb's landing thingy to see the predicted coordinates for your landing

and burn accordingly when you're high up

later when you can actually see what you're aiming for (your moon base of whatever)

you simply burn retrograde if you wanna slow down (your horizontal speed)

or burn straight up (to slow down your vertical speed) if you wanna go a bit further

I've done landings like these a million time and I still can only manage to land about 200m from my target

after that I go up a few meters and tilt ever so slightly toward my target and do another landing

P.S. if you have some other craft on the ground that you're aiming for, set it as a target and it'll be easier to aim for on the navball

If you don't want to use mods, open the debug menu (Alt-F12) and click on "Show Flight Debug Stats." In the top right corner, you should see your coordinates. When you are a few degrees before you pass over it, begin burning retrograde so that you are falling straight down over your target. If you don't care about efficiency, do this at a high altitude so that you can correct your trajectory so you land near the target.
