[0.19.1] Supernova SHLLV - 160 tons to LKO

Recommended Posts

Great design again. Now were can I get Temster fanboi t-shirts.

Honestly you think you we're the first person to ever name something a SuperNova? Nobody is going to back you up on that. Show us your legal trademark documentation with which you trademarked the name if a pile of pixels in an alpha game, or go troll someone else's thread.

You should read this. Really. And you might enjoy this for further studies.

(snip)

The combined forces of a 200ton dead weight being forced down by gravity against the 2G or more acceleration coming up from the engines is just too much for some parts to take. It took a lot of very precise strutting finally make a payload that wouldn't crush it's own 2.5m core while under acceleration so I felt that the 4x design was too unwieldy and with a margin of error for failure too small for comfort. Hence why I settled down on the 3x design.

It's harder to do, but one thing you can do for larger payloads is actually split the "core stage" into multiple core stages, and attach them at the corners of your payload. Attach boosters/asparagus stages outside of each of the core stages, and each core stage is only lifting 1/nth of the total mass of the payload. It can lead to some nasty strutting problems and inefficient staging patterns, because you sometimes need to keep dead weight around simply so there's enough stuff left to strut together, but in return, you can lift some truly large payloads, if you're willing to deal with the lag. (Can link imgur, if anyone actually cares; I'll refrain from image-spamming, for now..)

Now I demand you rename your ships otherwise I will have to contact the administration of the forum.

I do not want to be a buerocratic sh*t but I do not enjoy people stealing cool names. Sry

You have 24,3 hours since now to take action

Yes I agree this is the by far the most viable method method for launching even larger payload, however:

1. I can't design rockets and share them with this method :), each one has to be a custom job

2. Really it's actually a case of "launching six rockets at the same time" sort of thing, only the six of them are stuck together with struts.

Temstar didn't steal your craft's name. He has a well-known lifter called Nova, and this is a larger permutation, hence Super Nova. There is no rule on the forum about exclusive naming rights, either. You also seem to have copyright and trademark confused. For example, in the United States, you cannot copyright a name. That would be covered by trademark.

">

How do I copyright a name, title, slogan, or logo?

Copyright does not protect names, titles, slogans, or short phrases. In some cases, these things may be protected as trademarks. Contact the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, 800-786-9199, for further information. However, copyright protection may be available for logo artwork that contains sufficient authorship. In some circumstances, an artistic logo may also be protected as a trademark.

I would also add that a trademark has to be registered. Now, you might be able to claim that your craft's design is copyrighted, as an artist automatically has a copyright on their work. But he didn't copy your craft's design.

What are you hoping to accomplish here?

My client (who doesn't know he's my client) would like to point out that the design of "The Supernova" is radically different from the design and purpose of the "Supernova HLLV", it is unlikely in the extreme that a brand confusion would arise.

My other client (The universe as observed by literate humans) Insists that you rename YOUR ship in case people become confused between it and the event of approximately 185 AD resulting in the remnant now known as SN 185. SN185 is sick of people stealing its cool name and all the royalties it could have claimed.

Getting old fast... It's a game folks just have fun :) you Both have a SuperNova ship, and since your ships are both in entirely different universes with entirely different design history's who's to say which one is actually the real supernova..

I'd also like to point out that the interstellar supernova has not been released to the public, just a screenshot and a name.
