Satellite/Station Carrier!

Recommended Posts

Hi all, This is my latest design to be able to carry a satellite to space, deliver it in orbit then safely return to the planet. (I wasnt aiming for the launch pad, just a safe landing!)

Here are a few pics of the journey, i aint got it perfect yet but still trying. :D

Separation of Satellite (Accidentally did too early, but successful none the less)

Burn for Re-entry

Ready for Water Splash down, after final separation ( which can be seen in the background lol)

Hope you like the Design, it was a first attempt.

Will retry soon with better separation of satellite, and Landing!

Please feel free to add criticism of the designs, as i am always open to improvements.

I have been thinking of trying to put a satellite outside of the orbit of the planet and trying to revisit it on the return orbit, ready for the space station and docking updates of the future!

^what u think? do-able?

Ye i think the hardest part will be to make visual contact with the satellite after the orbit, also extreme thruster control will be needed to even come close, but i like the challenge so ill post my results :D

I think ill use the same satellite as above but with extra parts to be able to spot it better!

Hopefully in the future you will be able to put radar on your ship so that you can more easily locate object that are outside of visual range.

Ye when i launched the satellite i wasnt really in a stable orbit i was just testing the concept really.

Funny enough i downloaded the solar panels and the flare yesturday, but then i downloaded the v.11 experimental release and been testing that since so havent really done anything else with the flare and panels yet!

I like the orbital map for the v.11 release plus would help with satellite tracking if on the map it also showed as an icon, that way would make docking or just viewing the satellite after launch so much easier!
