Base/colony Ideas

So I’ve decided to start setting up some permanent bases/colonies, first on the Mun and outward from there. As stuff like life support isn’t modeled in the game I don’t really “need†anything other than a hitchhiker capsule to make it a base but of course I’d like my base to consist of more than just that, for flavour if not anything else.

So what do you guys include in any permanent bases you build? I’m thinking of a few hitchhiker cans along with some solar panels, a rover for the residents to go exploring in, and a mobile refueling platform. Other than that, I’m not sure what to bring, even if it doesn’t serve any actual purpose.

What I do is make a few hitchhiker containers attached for kerbals to live in, A power plant that's covered with solar panels on top and batteries beneath. A radio tower for communication and lights all around it, Make it tall. A landing pad if your good at landing. A garage type thing for rovers. A fuel depot for fuel. A "Escape pod" For emergency escape. Also make a space station. That's all I can think of. :)

Here's something to get you started.

I've got a ground shuttle to take kerbals between locations, as I spread things 2.5 Km to avoid lag, a big crane for moving stuff, (carried those habitation modules to the site), and I'm planning exploration vehicles, for trips to places on the Mun I haven't been yet. I've got a few return rockets, that hold nine, on standby in case of emergency.

Also, testing a space barbecue. For parties, and special events.

Don't forget to bring the satilite dish, they need a way to comunicate with the tv provider so they can watch their shows.

Hahaha, no no. I like to make sure my Kerbals are very bored. The most I ever give them is a stick to play with.
